Gas piston air rifles can offer amazing advantages over other types of guns. Their power, speed, and efficiency make them ideal for hunting small game and competing in target competitions. Here are a few ways to maximize performance.

A gas piston air rifle has a piston that uses gas (often nitrogen) that compresses the air in the compression chamber. The compressed air is what propels the pellet when you pull the trigger. Heavier pellets fly slower than lighter pellets and impact targets differently.

Gas piston air rifles do require some maintenance. Be sure to clean and oil your gas piston regularly.Proper care will keep it in top shape, which can also lead to increased accuracy and a longer lifespan of your gun.
