7 of 7 Tech Force M12 Air Rifle Reviews
Good feel in the hands. I like the stock design and for the price has a good finish. I have this one in both .177 and .22. Rifle was discounted so the price was a real bargain. Rifle zeroed in quickly with the Tech Force scope i bought for it.
Things I Would Have ChangedFor the price, i don't think you could make any changes.
What Others Should KnowDuring break in the gun does smell from the packing grease in the spring area. Goes away after awhile.
It made of wood and steel. Not as hold sensitive as most springers, can be held tight .I use crossman 7.9 hollow point i get .2 inch at 20 yards its very accurate .I am using a utg 4x32ao scope and mounts, got no scope slippage.I really like this gun.It took 500+ shots to break in and the groups really shrunk. After break in i cronny it at 784 fps with a 15 fps spread in fps.
Things I Would Have ChangedI wish it came with iron sites.
What Others Should KnowGive it time to break in ,It will shoot well .use a scope rated for springers .leepers utg has scoped rated for 12 foot pounds.and there not expensive.
I decided to take a chance on the M12 because of the price. I cleaned it before the first shoot as I had read an in-depth online review about how oily the piston is. They were not kidding. It stinks so bad for the first few hundred rounds. Once you get the excess oil burned out of the gun it really starts to break in nicely. It took about 4 solid cleanings before and after shooting in order to get the rifle to perform the way it's designed. It has what some would call a heavy break in period but it suddenly came right in to it. It drops 1" groups at 25 yards in a standing freehand position. On the bench, you'll use the same hole every time in the target with only slight variance. It does occasionally throw a flier but I attribute that to individual artillery hold and not rifle performance and mainly pellet choice. Mine seems to like the .22 RSB Exact Jumbo Diablo 15.89 Gr. and shoots the Benjamin Discovery Hollow Point pretty well but not as tight at the target. I gave it 4/5.
What Others Should KnowI stripped the stock finish on the third day I had it. I read one review about the finish quality and would have to agree. The gun has a beautiful grain that just isn't capitalized on well enough with it's tobacco lacquer coat finish. I took it down to the bare wood and gave it three coats of light stain to pull out some of the grain detail and I keep it hitting it with oil until it won't soak up any more. It's a good looking gun now. Well worth every penny and if you want to customize it, you won't feel like you're taking the chance of ruining a $500 gun.
I emailed customer service about the oil and the stink and they said to just keep shooting and cleaning it. They were 100% right. A person would be crazy to pass up a rifle with this much potential at this price.
I also added a small piece of plastic as a shim in the cocking linkage which seemed to eliminate the rattling often heard when handling the gun. Also, without bore/iron sights, you can go low with a regular scope mount.
It looks good from a distance.
Things I Would Have ChangedLose the fake muzzle brake and finish the stock so it doesn't look like plastic. I would also add barrel pivot washers, this gun has none. Get rid of the felt oil holder on the piston to stop the dieseling. Supply a real barrel that is rifled and not a fake barrel with a liner that is only rifled for the 1st nine inches. Use screws to hold things together, not pins.
What Others Should KnowI didn't expect much considering the price. Gun had lots of black cruddy stuff inside along with pieces of felt material. Way over oiled. The air port angles up from the compression tube to barrel and barely qualifies as a hole, more like a tiny cave opening. Gun has no barrel pivot washers or anywhere to put them so there is metal to metal contact here. Gun averaged high 500's to low 600's with a 14.3gr pellet but had velocity spreads reaching 100fps. Gun is loud and twangy. The compression tube has a tight spot making it difficult to remove the piston. I think with some tuning and TLC it may be an okay shooter, I'm still working on mine. As is, very cheaply made and not a good choice. For a few bucks more you can get a Stoeger X20S2 which out classes the M12 by far. I cannot recommend this gun.
With some tuning
I love the Monty Carlo stock. This rifle fits right into my arms. It is smooth to cock and fire. Very good repeatability. I fire it on a fifty yard range and it never disappoints me.
Things I Would Have ChangedI changed the scope to a higher quality.
What Others Should KnowKeep your rifle clean and oiled.
Nothing, I can't believe that Air Venturi /PA HAVE THEIR NAME ON THIS air rifle it is GARBAGE.........
What Others Should KnowYOU CAN BY A CHINESE CROSMAN AND IT IS A BETTER PRODUCT IN FIT & FINISH AND ACCURACY I WILL NOT COMPARE THIS RIFLE TO A BEEMAN, WALTHER OR WEIHRAUCH BECAUSE THEY ARE IN A DIFFERENT CLASS BUT A CROSMAN VANTAGE IS A BETTER PRODUCT.....

I was pleasantly surprised when this arrived already equipped with a centerpoint 3-9 AO scope in a hard case. Despite being a refurb there were no dings or rust. Will shoot good groups if held correctly, decent trigger. For the $59 plus tax and shipping it was a good deal and I am pleased with this purchase. BB has done a multi part review on these which you can find in his blog archives. Smooth firing cycle, easy to cock. These are actually Mendozas made in Mexico.
Things I Would Have ChangedNothing, was exactly what I expected
What Others Should KnowThis was the last one in stock at the time. Check the refurb area and they may get more. A bargain for $59. Remember scope and case were not mentioned, you may not get these.
