Description
If you want a rifle that's not picky about how you treat it, then get this synthetic-stocked rifle. It's prepared to stand up to the rough world of real hunting, real work. The gas-piston makes it that much more durable because you don't have to worry about breaking a metal mainspring if you leave your gun cocked too long.

10 of 11 Hatsan Striker 1000S Vortex Gas Piston Air Rifle Reviews
Rifle looks great and the synthetic stock feels strong.
Things I Would Have ChangedGet the service plan. Just received my .25 this week. No resistance when cocking and trigger doesn't work. Safety engages but rifle won't fire. Waiting for custmer service to return my email. Really wanted this to work since this was my first .25 caliber rifle.
What Others Should KnowWaiting for a replacement of an identical model or a completely different rifle. Can't wait to test it.
Very Powerfull and very accurate!
Things I Would Have ChangedNothing
What Others Should KnowIts not a toy!
This is not a bad gun for the money. I have the .25 cal and this thing hits like a brick with the H&N Baracuda Hunter Extreme 28.4 Grain Hollowpoints. I went through 2 cans of pellets and accuracy is great out to 35yds, I haven't tried any further. I no longer have groundhog problems.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe rifles sold should be checked before shipping. The first rifle did not work at all when i received it. The replacement took some time for me to receive.
What Others Should KnowBuy the 10 for 10 service plan. Open site shooting is spot on. The scope is ok but will need to be changed.
The power 18 foot lbs with the .22 version and the accuracy was half inch groups at 25 yards with the jsb exacts.
Things I Would Have Changednothing
What Others Should Knowtighten the screws
Extremely accurate out of the box using the sights. Two clicks left on windage, two down on elevation and I was shooting quarter size groupings at 20 yards.
Things I Would Have ChangedStock seems hollow.
What Others Should KnowWhile I know others have reported problems, I've put a couple hundred hollow point pellets down range with this gun (I just got it the day of writing this review) and other than adjusting for windage and elevation have had no problems with it. It is heavier than I thought, but that isn't a big deal. Trigger pull seems light to me, but I'm used to squeezing hand guns with more than twice the pull weight than this thing has.
styling, weight, feel when mounted to shoulder
Things I Would Have Changedthe rifle didnt work - the gas piston was apparently not filled, or it leaked. I would have preferred that PA had checked the product for function, especially since this one was to replace a first one (bought by my friend) that also didnt work.
Nothing. This gun was just awful. The spread was all over the place and the trigger was very stiff. Ended up returning it.
Things I Would Have ChangedEverything. This gun just doesn't carry the required value to even make it worth anything.
What Others Should KnowSpend a little bit more and get an RWS Diana 34P. The gun is a night and day difference compared to the 1000S
Shoots .25 cal pellets. Light weight. Scope is included. You can see far with the scope. Good safety. I use the open sights the most because it is lighter. The trigger is good enough. Comfortable to hold. Almost as accurate as a .22 long rifle from up close. Gas Piston. Good power.
Things I Would Have ChangedHorrible quality. I returned it because the gun fell apart when I cocked it. Gas piston is connected to a screw that is next to the trigger. Bad design. Bad quality. Barrel tends to rust with very little touching. The scope is cheap and made in China. Hatsan needs to stop selling this gun and redesign it.
What Others Should KnowI am a good shot. I can hit spinning targets from a far distance with this gun. A .177 can't do that. I use .31 gram pellets. Pyramid Air has great customer service. My Hatsan 85 also rusted on the barrel. It's another manufacturing mistake by Hatsan. I am never buying guns made in Turkey ever again.
This is a very powerful rifle shooting an average of 846 fps using H&N Barracuda 10.6 grain pellets in .177 caliber when I checked it with my Chrony, pellets would easily go through an inch of pages on the phonebook. The rubberized texture on the stock felt good and gave lot’s of grip. The scope was never mounted but plinking bottles and cans at 10 yards was not an problem for me & my son. The rifle is long but but light enough so it never felt unwieldy and cocking effort which initially felt difficult seem to get better with use.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe stock is made out of plastic and it lasted for only 3 uses and started breaking on the left fore stock section where a screw goes through it on an extended shooting day last July 4th. We discovered pieces of plastic falling on the floor while shooting on this date and discovered this problem. The included bipod is for display purposes only. The trigger action is marginal at best, it just takes forever for it to fire due to the length of action; you will also feel the unevenness of the resistance as you are squeezing it which is very distracting.
What Others Should KnowThe gun is loud but we shoot indoors so it should be better outdoors; the recoil is very distinct, feeling more like a sharp slap, rather than a push. We did not get a chance to mount the scope so distances farther than 10 yards was never evaluated since the gun was returned to Pyramyd Air.
I would recommend a whole range of pellet weights 10.6 grains and above since this rifle can really sling them out with velocity and you may find that it’s favored pellet might be on the heavier side of the 10.6 grains that I used.
I ordered this gun with a 10 for 10 and Pyramyd Air got a pellet velocity averaging 943 fps using Laser 7.1 grain ammo; also ordered lot’s of ammo including the .177 H&N Barracuda 10.6 grain pellets which was the only ammo used and some maintenance supplies.
This rifle deserves another chance with me but I would opt for the wood stock version (Hatsan Striker 1000x) of this gun. The velocity is outstanding and I would like to find out if the accuracy is there too.
The customer service of Pyramyd Air is really very good. The rifle was returned once I got an RMA issued. PA stands by their products, take care of the customers and makes problems as painless as possible. I already have almost $200 in my cart for the next order consisting mostly of ammo so my son & I could play this summer.

it is light and it shot well out of the box.i like the Benjamin summit 22 NP2 I picked up in its place from another vendor, they shipped it way faster than PA and I got it in a couple of days and it has no problems at all.
Things I Would Have Changedthe scope mounts on the rifle with an 11mm rail which is a poor set up at best.the higher end hatsans have a nice rail to mount scope this rifle needs one like that.the scope that came with this rifle is very cheap and one I received had no right/left adjustment and is total junk.i also think PA is pro hatsan, they must make a killing selling those things.one I received was junk.the barrel lock up did not function proper and barrel had play in it.just a matter of time until it would fail and not shoot well at all.
What Others Should Knowthe rifle I received did not lock up properly and I sending it back to PA.i see a lot of hatsans are like this(just read other reviews of hatsans).rifle has a hollow or tingy sound when shot, its not a big deal.
returning rifle to PA.i wanted to return it in person but that aint going to happen.even if you are close to PA you must send it back and the whole returning process is a flop.it would have been nice to drive there return rifle and pick up a new one but NO cant do that.have to send it and wait.i can drive there in an hour which to me is no big deal.
I cant understand why PA charges us to ensure we get a good product.you would think that PA would want to send out quality rifles rather than have a bunch of returns bogging down their time.think about the manpower it takes to receive a return then process another one to ship.no wonder I can get a rifle from Utah twice as fast PA busy with returns.i live in ohio and get taxed charged to me,i paid 17.00 on a 159.00 rifle.
