3 of 3 Diana Stormrider Barrel, .22 Reviews
Diana barrel is simply good one, because quality of still and rifling. For this particular barrel recommended medium size 14-21gr pallets are best! For example, ones that barrel get used to for JSB exact 15gr pallet and optimal speed 750-900 fps, it is pure enjoyment! Now I am not wasting my time and pallets!
Things I Would Have ChangedI would change the beerch and disign of the o ring is sitting position. Also impoved the crowning easely
What Others Should KnowThe Diana stormrider is very lightweight, balanced, and choked barrel. Don't use slugs, and alloy pallets, it will change accuracy! The best performance when it's floating without any attachments
This barrel is brand new, never been used before, with no dents or scratches. It's even got rifling just like it's supposed to!
Things I Would Have ChangedWell, the entire gun would have to be changed for the sort of changes I would like to see with this barrel. So in a practical sense, there's really nothing I would want to change, because then it wouldn't be this barrel would it?
What Others Should KnowI think there's been a bit of an oversight regarding a question of whether or not buying a .22 barrel to replace a .177 is going to involve any extra complications, or if it will be a simple bolt-on swap. I really couldn't say for sure as I don't have a Stormrider, I bought this barrel for a experimental project that's very slowly going to be the worlds next best thing. However, for the record, and as something that should be useful for answering that one question - just remove your .177 barrel & using a tape measure and a dial caliper, measure a few things on it. Then compare that with what I have found:
This .22 barrel is 18-7/8" long overall, with a outside diameter of 0.472"
The breech has a OD of 0.393" & is stepped back 0.785" from the end. The transfer port is evenly centered in this smaller section and there's a few o-ring grooves
The front sight is also cut down to 0.393" OD, and is stepped back 1.378" from the muzzle

I ordered a Gen 1 barrel because my pre-order for a Gen 2 (threaded) was still on back-order for 5 months (at time of new order) - I received a Gen 2 barrel in Gen 1 packaging.
Things I Would Have ChangedI would change the quality control or the description of the barrel - it should read "Mostly complete barrel, some machining required to finish what the manufacturer started."
What Others Should KnowThe first barrel I received had a crown that was severely off-center. Also, the packing job was terrible, the barrel was basically left free-floating in the cardboard box to get smacked around during shipping. Customer service was good, swapped for a replacement.
The second barrel did not have a crown at all, in fact there is a burr rolled into the barrel from the facing operation. Packing was still terrible after making a complaint about it on the first order.
Neither of the barrels would have hit the broad side of a barn in the condition they were received, the second one is borderline dangerous because the barrel is slightly obstructed.
If I didn't have access to a lathe I would be sending this back as well; I didn't want to mess with fixing the first one because I paid for a finished barrel - it looks like that isn't what you get. It will be faster to chuck this up at a buddy's shop and fix it than to send it back and play the swapping game until I get lucky.
