Based on the Vietnam Tomahawk, the Tactical Tomahawk is an extreme evolution of the original which was considered one of the more unusual weapons of its day. Today there is a real need for a versatile tool for breaching operations, excavation, obstacle removal, extraction, and other utility applications. The 420 stainless steel head with Hardcased coating is mounted to the fiberglass reinforced nylon handle with heavy-duty bolts and a steel ferrule for stability. My girlfriend saw the one that I had and really wanted one for her car for use also. Wanted to use it for emergency seat belt cutter, and to break the window if trapped. So she now feels confident with that in her car, amazing Christmas present!!
I took the tomahawk on a short camping trip and it performed various chores flawlessly. Easy handling, light weight and retained its edge throughout the trip.
I own two hawks. Very well built. Tuff. Only dislike, is the handle. Not having a pommel swell. It can slip from my hands, under heavy use. Loosing it a star for me.
Well made. Solid. Sharp. Strong. A bit heavier than I expected. Higher quality than I expected. The nylon belt sheath is very functional, better designed and more usable than others I’ve seen.
Nice handle grip,good for throwing. Would have been great if it came with a wrist rope or at least drilling the hole larger.

Strongly recommend. It's very high quality, sturdy and light at the same time.
The handle is too skinny. I tried using 1” silicon O-rings in the intermittent groves, but the widths we not consistent. However, I re-wrapped it with a 1/4” leather strap and the grip is MUCH more useful. Good balance and heft in this modification.
For the price you pay, this well balanced tomahawk is capable in chopping as well as throwing. I have every sized tomahawk from SOG and they are all incredible and very fun yet formidable tools.
