Description
Built specifically with airgunners in mind, the Hawke Airmax 30 SF Compact 4-16x44 AMX IR is equipped to handle the ballistic traits unique to air-propelled projectiles. Be it a heavy, lead pellet; alloy ammo - even air bolts - Hawke’s Airmax riflescope series is a product of the same rigorous engineering and manufacturing standards that characterize the Hawke Sport Optics brand.
This riflescope’s AMX IR glass etched reticle is based on common 10x Mil-Dot spacing and offers multiple aim points. This is especially useful when shooting airguns with parabolic trajectories. Half Mil-Dot spacing on the lower post provides more aim points for long shots. The horizontal bars are calculated at 0.5, 1.5, 2.5, 3.5 and 4.5 mil spacing. Hollow posts are segmented into mil spacing and may be used for bracketing.
If you’re in the market for a high-quality, reliable and versatile optic for your air rifle, Hawke’s Airmax line of riflescopes provide some ideal options.

Good service
I bought this scope specifically to shoot 25 yard indoor benchrest with my RWS Diana 75. The compact design allows it to be mounted behind the breech for easy pellet loading on this springer. The clarity of the lens is great for this application, focusing on a 2mm 10 point ring. I'm have not used it outdoors for Field Target so I can't speak to the parallax and light transmission but will try it this spring on my HW97 which already has another Hawke 6x24 Airmqx on it for comparison.
Things I Would Have ChangedI wish there were more SFP reticles based on 16x magnification for airgun scopes.
What Others Should KnowI have also shot 10 meters in my basement with this scope with great results but prefer the diopter sight as this was what the rifle was designed for. It is great for practicing the standup position for field target.
Compact and light
Things I Would Have ChangedNothing
What Others Should KnowI feel that the 4-16 is the ideal magnification range, and the crisp , bright optics are great
Size, light weight, clarity, reticle.
Things I Would Have ChangedReally nothing!
What Others Should KnowWow! This an awesome scope for the money!
Looks good, airmax crosshair is great ( IMHO), focus was easy, and the large wheel for the parallax was included.
Things I Would Have ChangedLighted crosshair--so far I have never needed one and I have been shooting since 1950. Make it an option.
What Others Should KnowMounted this on a TX200, will make comment if any problems arise. Windage and elevation adjustments are in Mils. Each click is 1/10th of a Mil. or 1/36 in. Anyone used to 1/4 in. clicks will have fun getting used to that. On my TX sighted at 50 yds. trying to hit a 3/8 inch bull, one click left is too much and one click right is also too much. Not a deal breaker but just a bit funkey.
Really like this scope, I mounted it on an Air Arms 400S. Because of the way the scope fits it has to be a little more forward then I,d prefer but it has enough eye relief to compensate. I shoot it in my indoor range and outside for hunting so the 1/2 minute cross hairs along with the Streeloc program take all the effort out of range estimation.
Things I Would Have ChangedI wish Hawke would include their metal swing-away lens caps with all their scopes. Even if it meant uping the price. It would save the extra time and effort ordering them seperately
Decent scope for the money, but the turrets feel and look very cheap. When placed side-by-side with the similarly-priced Athlon Optics 4-14x44 Talos BTR, the Athlon scope is superior in every way. The Hawke feels like a toy, but the Athlon feels like a solid piece of shooting equipment.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe turrets feel and look very cheap
What Others Should KnowForget this scope, go with Athlon Optics 4-14x44 Talos BTR, you won't regret it. Hands down, the Athlon is a better scope.
The optics are bright and clear, and the parallax adjustment is easy to use without the wheel attachment. Compact size looks right and clears the loading area of my HW-77K spring airgun. Looks to be a well made and durable airgun scope.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe illuminate reticle is not that bright.
What Others Should KnowThe reticle only covers a little over half of the field of view

I love this optic as it is compact, lightweight, a very good eyebox and clear glass. I love the BDC reticle and I also got the metal lens covers. It’s a very solid well manufactured scope and a great value.
Things I Would Have ChangedI would extend the reticle to cover the entire image just because that’s what we are all used to but it’s probably to keep the illumination from blowing out the image. Make an antireflective device for it and then you’ll have an almost flawless scope.
