Beautiful Turkish walnut stock. Very accurate with the right pellet and using the artillery hold. Lots of power for hunting and pest control. Great trigger and overall easy to use.

SAS system needs improvement to reduce the extremely large amount of recoil vibration. Quality of assembly needs improvement. SAS stock attachment bolt needs re-designed and made more robust to handle the high power shock loads and prevent breakage. 1.) Everything threaded on the outside of the gun keeps coming apart. All the brass knobs, trigger screws, breach bolt retaining post, SAS assembly bolt, stock assembly hardware. Even after cleaning all the threads and adding thread locker, all the threaded parts would begin to loosen 2.) The front SAS/stock attachment bolt has broken three (3) times. I spoke with Hatsan and sent it to their service center. Took 1 1/2 months for them to fix it. They had to replace the bolt twice after the first one they installed broke as well. 3.) The service center did not pack the rifle very well for shipping, so when I received it, the stock now has several points of damage. I'm currently requesting Hatsan to replace the entire rifle or refund my money

NOTE:This is a very heavy and powerful air rifle. Before using, the shooter must master the artillery hold to obtain accurate groups.
I purchased this are rifle (.25 cal. spring version) August 2017. Awesome power and extremely accurate. I found this rifle loves bench shooting and Predator Polymag pellets (26 gr). I have tried eight (8) different pellets, with Predator Polymags being the best and H&N Hornets being close behind.
Unfortunately, the quality of this air rifle does not match other top brands. The rifle looks very well built, but after a short time, the poor quality assembly and parts begin to show. Because of this, I would not recommend this air rifle. I also own a Hatsan 125 .25 cal vortex (gas piston), which also has a bad barrel and a leaking piston seal, due to poor quality. Unfortunately, Hatsan has refused to repair or replace under warranty.
If Hatsan can resolve their quality issues, I feel they would have great air rifles to rival the best.

My gun is vortex and is in .25 caliber. The stock is beautiful. The gun is powerful. On my gun, the Quattro trigger is decent. I even enjoy the 50 to 60 lb cocking effort and the enormous heft on this gun. I like the scope mounting system.

You encounter the phrase "power without accuracy means nothing" when reading/viewing air rifle reviews. This is particularly true with this rifle. It has not done well with any pellet I have tried. 4.5" groups at 20 meters with every pellet after several hundred round means this rifle cannot be used for hunting (the reason I bought it). It would be okay for plinking - if you were shooting dinner plates. Bad accuracy trumps everything. I wish the RWS 460 came in .25

I have to admit I should have done better research on this rifle. I thought since it was an under lever design that it was a fixed barrel. Stupid me. I think the sliding barrel on this rifle will preclude it from ever being accurate. I can only hope that there will be some aftermarket solution to this gun's woeful performance. By the way, the cocking arm locking system on this rifle stopped working after ten shots, not that it matters much with this rifle since you can load it with the arm fully returned.

the power is great for a spring gun. When hatsan says a gun shoots 750 fps it shoots 750 fps and thats not with those super light allot pellets mine shoots 750 fps with 21 gr H&N pellets, how do i know this u ask? Because i have a chrony thats how i know. This gun is pushing the limit of spring gun power!!The quatrro triger is a huge improvement, my walther (hatsan)falcon hunter has the older trigger and is not nearly as good. I believe they share the same power plant but my walther is gas spring.

This thing is heavy at 11 lbs without a scope, it probably could have been made a couple of lbs lighter easily enough without sacrificing any strength. It takes serious effort to cock this gun but that is the result of the huge spring and piston so it is to be expected, it may ease up a bit after a couple hundred rounds.

All of my air rifles seem to shoot best with JSB heavy pellets, but this one doesnt like them, shoots much better with H&N 20.06 gr pellets but the gun isnt broken in yet so that may change. THIS IS DEF NOT A GUN FOR YOUNGSTERS ITS BIG AND VERY LONG AND VERY HEAVY and is a bear to cock im 6,1 and 230 lbs and its a two hander for me to cock. Its prob not a gun your going to want to shoot a 100 rounds out of in one setting (your arms will wear out)Hatsan makes quality guns (they make shotguns as well)and many of there air rifles are branded walther, winchester etc. If you want a magnum powered sprig gun that is accurate reasonable priced and nice to look at, check this one out. One other thing, this gun kicks like a mule, i put a leaps 4-16x50 AO true strength scope on it (hope the gun doesnt shake it to pieces) and it accepts either 11mm dovetail or weaver rings how cool is that? Make sure u clean the barrel before firing they are loaded with gunk!!

tis is a great gun, full of power and accuracy, the iron sites work really well for zeroing in your gun before mounting your scope, but the cocking effort is really strong, but it did ease up as I reached about shooting 100 rounds trough the gun. even with iron sites at 10meters, I can hit the same hole 4 out of 5 times, with the military hold and bag. I haven' tried the tripod yet, but this gun is really great. The trigger is crisp and predictable, the recoil is not too bad, I did put the spacers onto the but pad, simply because I prefer long guns I have long arms. But I do suggest for people to buy this gun, I got it in .25 even though I already have a Benjamin Trail NP XL in .25, but to me this gun being so heave, really makes it easier to shoot and hold accurately, I live it, and I love my Benji too, but I think this Hatsan is gonna become my fav.I really like the under leaver and the safety of the bolt action system,(beartrap)yes I say buy this gun, it's great.

I also have the webley patriot. I would return, but it's too late for that. I hate the dovetail. Was looking into the hatsan 135 vortex.........Jim, did you buy this gun? If so are you happy?

Richard - Thanks for your review, I'm considering this same rifle (Torpedo 155) to add to my collection, and my only prior experience with Hatsan, was the Patriot in .25cal.. and wound up trading it back to PA in exchange for a Benjamin Mrod in .25, which I absolutely "love" to shoot & "deadly" accurate. Anyway, am wondering as to what your impressions are of your 155 now, over a month since you wrote this review of yours(?)... are you still impressed with it, any "issues" with it(?)... and approximately how many rounds have you shot through it at this point(Sept.16/2014)?? Thanks in advance for your reply, take care..be safe & may you always hit what your aiming at. :)

This is a very well built and beautiful gun. I really appreciate the extra safety features of this lever gun. It is very accurate and is not too fussy about pellet selection as long as the pellet is not too loose in the chamvber.

I have not had the gun too long but as of now I would not change anything.

This gun is not for someone that has problems with gun weight or cocking force. That said it is an excellent bench gun which is what I wanted. It shoots great off the rest and does not seem to be hold sensitive.

David Jul 12, 2014

John I finally gave up and replaced it with a Torpedo 100x in .22 cal. This one is much better but you have to be very consistant in shooting itor it will drive you crazy.

John Jun 17, 2014

David did you get it lined out? I was thinking abou t getting one so I hope see this !

David Apr 15, 2013

Since I wrote this review the gun has given me a lot of trouble. The piston seal had to be replaced and I had the accuracy mixed up with my 125 Sniper from Hatsan. I am luckey to get one inch groups at 10 yards but will keep trying until it gets better or I trade it off.

Everything!!! This is one beautiful and accurate rifle. I got mine in .22cal, and am lucky enough to get a stock with an abundance of character in the wood. Even on non-shooting days, I sometimes take her out and lean her against my office wall and ogle over her. I had no problem finding the correct hold for this rifle to wring out the accuracy. The loading steps become fluid after you get in a rhythm. This, like most spring guns, requires the use of the “artillery hold”. If you are thinking you should hold the gun tight, you are already off to a bad/wrong start in my opinion. Like all air rifles you have to find the right pellet. I am also lucky enough to have just about every “reasonable” pellet PyramydAir sells (even some they don’t sell) to choose from in .177/.22/.25 calibers. My results more than likely always yields that popular Beeman/H&N (FTS, Kodiak/Barracuda) and JSB (14.3/15.9,18.1gr) pellets never disappoint. I have noticed that magnum spring guns tend to like the more robust skirts of the Beeman/H&N pellets, and the 14.66gr .22cal H&N FTT come in a variety of sizes from 5.53-5.55 if the Beeman FTS don’t work. But as we all know, all guns are different, and results may vary.

It doesn’t make any sense to complain about the weight, cocking effort (which normally corresponds to felt recoil affect), or overall size/length of this rifle, because it is all displayed right there in the specs. In my experience, most magnum spring guns tend to be heavier and/or longer than your average gun. They maybe could have shaved some ounces off that beautiful Turkish stock, or made the innards/metal less robust, but I’m not complaining. I am 6’+ and 220lbs. A shorter, and slimmer in the frame individual may have problems wielding this rifle. If I were pressed to find one thing to change, I wish they would have incorporated a scope mount base reminiscent of their older/other models that have more “weaver” (using this term loosely) slots, or incorporated a true weaver base. Even one more “weaver” slot toward the rear of the mounting base would be useful. I know there is a stop-pin hole at the rear of the mount and they supply a scope stop, but I’ll take a weaver slot over a stop-pin hole any day. No problem though, I just used an offset mounting setup to give me the eye relief needed for the scope I wanted to use, and its solid.

I have been shooting air guns of various power plants and manufacturers over the years. Search PyramydAir and the entire web for other reviews on the Hatsan rifle you may be considering. and you will find a lot more positive feedback from all over the world than negative. Hatsan does not overly inflate their fps/speed ratings. Mine is shooting 14.66gr Beeman FTS from 920-930fps, and I have no doubts it will send 11.9gr RWS hobbies close to 1000fps (though I would never use such a light pellet with this power plant). Make sure you seat the pellets a little “deeper than flush” with the loading port of the barrel. Depending on the spring gun, I have noticed over the years a 10fps speed increase and/or more fps consistency than just loading pellets flush with loading ports.
I have purchased numerous rifles from PyramydAir, but this rifle is the first one that prompted me to write a review. In my opinion this is not built to be a “fast” plinking, or carrying-through-the-woods-on-a-hunt air rifle. It is purposely built for sighting in with the right pellet, leaning by the back door of the house, and sending lead accurately at unwelcome pests/targets with authority greater than some PCPs. I have no issues plinking with her at a leisurely pace, which is my style shooting.
Would I buy this rifle again, knowing what I know? You bet I would!!! I plan on adding a Model 125TH Nitro Piston or 135, and a BT65SB to my collection once I can find room in the gun safes.

I waited a long time before shipment arrived at Pyramyd. This is one great Hatsan product. I have not yet shot enough rounds through it to consider it stable but it took very little (20 rounds) to get accurate inch grouping at 30 yards. It is pellet sensitive so once you dial it for one pellet you are happy with stick with it or you will have to readjust. In it's new stage it is hard to cock but i feel that overall it will smooth out very quickly. the quality of all parts is outstanding and the stock is really nicely made. I have the 22 version but am now considering getting a 25 caliber version as well. it is not a gun for fast loading as there are multiple steps involved but then the same steps make it very secure. the trigger adjustment is great and you can really tune the already great trigger to suit your needs. Unless you use the artillery hold though - not unexpected - your accuracy suffers.

Nothing

Make the gun about 5 pounds lighter!! It is way too heavy. The recoil is relentless. It is very hard to cock...probably 60+ pounds of cocking effort is required.

This gun is a TANK!! It is way too heavy to hold up and shoot acurately. It has over 60+ lbs of cocking effort. I am 6'3" and 300+ lbs. I am strong..and this was a workout for ME!!! The wood is very nice and the trigger is pretty good but the weight and innacuracy of the gun make it very hard to give it any kind of a good rating. They make a very powerful gun. It did shoot over 900 fps with Crosman Premiers at 14.3 grains but the recoil is really HARD!! Not a good chioce if you are looking for an accurate, fun to shoot air rifle. The only way you can shoot even reasonably accurate is from the bench with a bag. Plus...hold on tight...Its a BEAST!!! Oh yea..I sent it back. Still waiting for my refund.

Grayland Dec 03, 2014

Amen

Grayland Dec 03, 2014

Really. Hard to cock? 300 pounds and strong?

John Jun 25, 2014

Edith..That is a good point. While I have had many different makes and models of air rifles and pistols in my possession over the past decades, I can't say that I ever truly owned and airgun that owned me. I am 5'11" and 230lbs and have yet to consider 11lbs a problem. Even in my high school ROTC rifle team days, when I used a Remington 40X HB Olympic .22lr that weighed in at 18lbs without counterweights, it was still manageable for the task at hand. But then, this was, like you said, balanced. And what target rifle wouldn't be? By reading the specs, I can tell that this is not a "daily plinker",nor is it a target rifle, but a solid small game rifle. I own one in .25cal by the way. What I would use a rifle for would be at least as important as what I would expect from the rifle itself. For this reason, I have many, as I would assume you and most everyone else here has, but this reason tends to be overlooked by many. But, like I said...Good point!

Edith Jun 18, 2014

John--People probably do read the specs, but the balance point for a gun may be different than what's expected. That may account for the reason someone thought they could carry an 11-lb. gun but ended up not being able to do it. Some guns that are heavy seem light because they balance well. Others that are lighter weight may have a bad balance point and will seem like dead weight in your hands.

John Jun 17, 2014

Hard to understand complaints such as this. Doesn't anyone read the specs before they buy? It's all there in black and white.

Keith Mar 06, 2014

Im 5'8" and have been walking/hunting the woods with a 10lbs .54 for30 years . at 11 lbs it seems like it should be a doable rifle.
