Description

Hatsan's velocities are always with lead pellets, not alloy pellets.

If you find it difficult to shoot precharged pneumatic airguns in your home or backyard because the loud sound disturbs others, then the new Hatsan QE (Quiet Energy) series of rifles should be on your short list. The silencer is quite effective and integral to the gun (it cannot be removed). It's also a real boon to hunters, especially when trying to dispatch pest animals that tend to gather in groups -- rats, birds, mice, rabbits, etc. That way, you can more easily dispatch each one without alarming the others in the pack.

The Galatian is a quality rifle made by a company founded by an airgunner. When you open the box, you'll immediately notice the attention to detail that went into the design and manufacture of this air gun.

Dear sirs, I haven't had much of chance to shoot the gun but a couple times as I am now fighting cancer for my 3rd time. Love the looks and feel of it but cant shoot more than 4 shots without having magazine pellet loading problems. This is the most I've ever spent on any type gun. I hope my health holds out so I can try it some more. I will rate it if and when I'm able to give an honest opinion on it. So far the loading problem on such a priced gun is disappointing. Any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful

Magazine issues for sure but not enough time spent with gun to be able to say much more

A thing of beauty. Unless you're up on a tree eating acorns. Actually I have a distance rule if I'm going to hunt the little guys, and I won't shoot until I know its clear, position is right, and know the humane shot up to me and my gun. That's where the Galatian comes in. It's a beautifully made gun in .25 cal. The round mags cycle perfectly, and the side bolt is great. I've never taken this to my range but I've hit 60 yds thus far. Put some nice optics on this if you can. Despite whatever the new guns can do, the Galatian has all the basics down to a T, and really, that's all I need.

Maybe shave a little of the stock down

Don't just blank over this gun when shopping online or in catalogues, check it out. Blessings

Everything, great looks, smooth, smooth action accurate as I can be. JSB 18 grain pellets work best.

Lighter would be nice.

Extra magazines are always a plus but if you buy more, test them right away. Out of four extra only one cycled and that one is an effort. The ones that came with the gun cycle smooth as glass, the extras bad. I returned them for new, got busy and did not shoot till time was up on return and my bad, the replacements were as bad a the originals so now I have sixty bucks of bad machining. They look great though :-(

i had the same problem with clips not cycling ,sand the shelf leading to the pickup on the clip and they will work fine.

I like everything about this gun, the feel, the weigh, the size, not to big and not to small. It will shoot into the same hole at 10 yards. Just waiting to shoot outdoors at 40 yards. Need some nice weather. The gun is real quiet, great for the backyard and in the basement. The gun is very well built and smooth. Very easy and fast to load. The only problem I had was not with the gun but with the air cylinder, leaked air, Pyramyd Air took care of that, sent me another one no problem, they are great about that. Matter of fact, Pyramyd Air takes care and time for their customers, one thing I noticed about this company, and I believe it's important to know, is the way they pack their products. Their packing is execelllent. I have dealt with other companies and couldn't believe how they would ship out their products! Ever receive pellet tins all banged up, dented, smashed? Packages half opened, falling apart, tape not holding and products bouncing around in a bag! And or box! Not PyramydAir

Not a thing

This is a great working gun, very well made, fun to shoot and accurate. This is going to be a great gun to hunt with. Save your pennies like I did and get this gun, you will be happy like I am! Easy to shoot easy to load and easy to fill!

David Jul 26, 2018

It will shoot into the same hole even at 50 yards!

It's feel and look like a real firearm.

Nothing

After 100 or so shots, the trigger became lose or something, because it get to the point that I have to almost squeeze it with all my hand to make it shoot. But after some adjustment to the trigger I managed to adjust it place again, or even better.

Josh Sep 21, 2016

For those who have this problem, the Galatian comes with a quattro adjustable trigger. Read the manual and you can learn for yourself how to adjust the trigger pull.

John Jul 10, 2016

I'm currently trying to sort out the same problem. The first stage of the trigger seems too long, then the second stage is either a light touch or a really hard pull to fire. When it's a light touch the rifle is quite accurate but when it's but your groups get ugly.

Unlike so many other PCA rifles available today, mainly consisting of an action fitted on the top (or sometimes the bottom) of a tubular air reservoir. The Galatian's design is original, and uniquely different. Its design is not only appealing to the eye, more resembling the look of conventional powder burner receivers, but also contains of very clever, almost inspired mechanical design. Utilizing the mechanical advantage, gained through its side lever design. The Galatian's precision side lever/bolt action is uncommonly smooth to operate, near effortlessly, indexing the magazine, loading the pellet, & applying the safety, with each cycle of the lever. Having now experienced examining & testing 5 different Galatian QE rifles over the past year, in both .22 cal. & .25 cal., I can report that all the rifles I've seen, exhibited excellent fit & finish. I believe that these rifles are constructed of top quality materials, & for the most part, showed excellent workmanship in their construc

Although the Galatian rifles come with a sling & sling swivel loops, the provided setup is awful. The sling’s connector clips are awkward, they are to long & noisy, plus they have weak keepers. Although the positioning of the safety, is ideal, in regard for fast & easy release. Personally, I would rather not have an automatically applied safety. I feel that the piccatinni rails on both sides of the fore-end stock, makes the rifle seem to wide & blocky. Although these side rails have screws & are easily removed, the screw holes & mounting flat remains as an eye sore. The rail on the bottom is great, but I bet more people than not, would prefer that the stock be left more streamlined without them. The operating/owners manual, is arguably insufficient, actually erroneous in sections with incorrect illustrations of another model rifle shown. The only other draw back the rifle has, is it’s weight. Mine weighs over 12 pds. with the Hawke Endurance 4-16x scope & BKL offset spit-ring mounts. That weight only gets heavier as we age, lol.

Unlike so many other companies that exaggerate their claims about velocity & power, it appears that Hatsan does not. All their rifles that Ive personally tested have truly met, or exceeded, their advertised velocities for that caliber. I can say that when using light pellets, all their rifles exceeded their advertised velocity. Although my experience with Hatsan has been problematic, as reflected in the number of rifles I've returned, the flaws which have been the causes of the problems I have experienced, have all been limited to accuracy (problems with the barrels) & breech seal O-rings. At present, both the .22 & .25 cal. Galatian rifles I now have, are both delivering about 45 ft/pds. of energy, while capable of easily shooting sub-inch single hole groups inside 50 yds., with very few fliers. In conclusion I have grown to love these rifles. For their price, I feel that these rifles are in a class of their own. Fully adj. stock, low profile, high capacity all metal magazines,& more

A large number of jams are caused by user error. Some people insist on using the wrong pellets for their guns and ignore all of the advice. Jams are also cause by not seating the pellets correctly which is easily done when you are using longer pellets. Rifles that aren't broken, with the correct pellets, properly seated really don't jam very often. Some guns are more "pellet fussy" than others and therefore have more user issues. It doesn't help that brands like Hatsan are completely incapable of writing a useful instructions manual. Even the FAQ on their site seems to deliberately not answer any of the questions.

Having recently commented, complaining about HatsanUSA's lack of contact ability & response. It is only fair that I now report that HatsanUSA appears to be back on line. I did finally receive email response to my messages, & manage to successfully purchase some replacement parts from them. My latest request was for information regarding purchasing a Lothar Walther barrel for one of my Galatian QE rifles. Edith did earlier report that there were LW barrels available for them on special order. I will report the outcome of my request, which I made to both HatsanUSA & Hatsan Arms in Turkey, via their website.

cont3..having read several users asking about how to remove the shroud on Galatian QE rifles. While watching a video of Rick (Eu.?)on youtube, demonstrating how to remove the barrel on a BT 65QE. I discovered that the Galatian uses the same method. The shroud is easily removed, after first removing the muzzle cap, then using an extension with a 14mm deep socket to reach down into the shroud enough to remove the 14mm nut which is screwed onto the barrel. Once the shroud is removed, the barrel can then be removed by loosening grub screws on the top of the receiver.

Don Jan 29, 2015

cont2..the only other bit of info I have to offer that other's might find useful, involves improving the rifles sling system, by replacing the existing sling loops, with quick release sling studs. Since the existing rear butt sling loop is a simple wood screw design, it is obviously a simple matter to simply remove the existing loop, & then replace it with conventional quick release stud of similar screw size. It is the fore-end stock with its threaded round cap that creates somewhat of a challenge. As it turns out, the existing hole in the cap, used for the stud part of the loop, which utilizes a spring keeper fastener. Is the exact correct tap size for threading the unthreaded hole to 1/4 x 20 NC. There are quick release studs available on line that then can be solidly screwed into the original cap. Yes, you will then need a different sling, one with quick release loops. It is a much better setup than the stock slings.

The most common problem (other than air leaks) usually experienced with repeating PCA air-guns, I feel, has to be pellet feeding problems. My experiences have proven to me, that this holds true, whether the magazines are being indexed by way of an “action operated” ratcheting design (such as with the Galatian’s), or, an internally spring wound magazine design. Many of the most expensive PCA rifles on the market, do still rely, on more expensive, spring wound plastic magazines. Most spring wound magazines, are usually mainly constructed out of plastic, & all contain springs which will further limit the functionality & life of that style of magazine. As far as I know, all of Hatsan’s models come with all metal magazines, which are not only far more durable & easier to load, than spring wound mags., but also seem less subject to jamming problems when correctly loaded with proper length pellets. The Galatian’s mags,. incorporate high capacity, low profile scope mounting, duel pellet ret

Don Jan 29, 2015

cont. The worst kind of jams usually occur when a pellet becomes wedged between the magazine & barrel breech. When this happens, the pellet is partly sheared & deformed, & wedges against the magazine so that it can no longer be removed. Clearing such a jam without causing any damage, can be tricky & time consuming. The narrow space provided in magazine wells on repeating pellet rifles doesn’t provide enough room to easily see what‘s happening, or work on dislodging deformed pellets. Part of the intelligence included in the design of the Galatian’s receiver & indexing ratchet design, is that it provides a way of easily disengaging the ratchet pawl from further trying to rotate the frozen magazine, while also providing better access to work on dislodging the damaged pellet. This is accomplished by simply removing the plate on the left side of the receiver. Do be aware that there is a small spring on the inside of the plate, that provides pressure against the pawl…Don R

this is a classy looking rifle, the finish and blueing is top class.the action is smooth out of the box,the trigger is refined and needed no adjustment to suit my shooting style.it has dual weaver and picatinny scope rails and bipod, laser or light mounts on the front end also.it came pre charged so I could shoot it out of the box,4 mags later and I am never going back to springers or nitros again, quarter sized groups at 50 yards and I didn't even clean it beforehand.at least 40 good consistent shots per fill with a ton of power to spare at the business end, this airgun is a beast. very quiet when shooting, the new shroud does a great job, definitely back yard friendly.the impact of a pellet is louder than the discharge.i was very impressed, for this money you cant go wrong,my latest nitro piston with silencer is a lot louder. I haven't had it in the field yet but I am sure it will perform just as accurately as on the bench,I expect to get out between 75 and 100 yards with ease.I love it

this airgun is a heavy load in the front, the synthetic stock feels good in hand but the weight would wear you down in the field.all said I wont have to worry about breaking it in a hurry I will just get a bipod for it.the butt is also a little short and I am no monster, maybe a few shims would solve this for me

just buy one,you wont regret one bit of it,you will wear your arms out pumping before you wear out any part of the gun,3 to 4 seconds between follow up shots will keep you fit and just looking at this gun will keep you happy

Joseph Apr 12, 2016

funny you should say that Gianni, because my .22 does the same thing, ( acts like a shotgun ) have about 2000 pellets shot through it, so that leaves out the break in period, might be the pellets, seems very picky about pellets, still cant find the pellet this gun likes! If I had my way, I would give this gun back and get the bt65. for the money, this Galatian should shoot in the same hole! going to send it to Hatsan USA , see what they find about the way this gun shoots. Thanks Joe

Joseph Mar 30, 2016

Funny you say that because I have a .22 Galatian and at 10 yards if shoots fine, but at 40 yards, the pellets fly everywhere but bullseye Past breaking in period, over 1000 pellets been through it. Still shoots fine at 10 yards but at 40, acts like a shotgun. So if you have found out anything that can or should be done to fix this problem, please let us know, because this gun will be useless for hunting. Thanks joe

cont2...which apparently is being used at the factory when the rifles are assembled. It too, was also apparent, that the metal on that particular screw, which so easily stripped out, was also much softer than the metal on the other 2 screws which were also securing the plate. I have since had to order replacement screws, & can report, that HatsanUSA wants $1.00 a piece for these screws, plus another $5.00 handling fee. I am just paying their price, due to feeling very pessimistic about quickly being able to find the exact matching screws anywhere else…Don R

the cost, at my local hardware store. Not having access to more detailed information about specifics, it’s impossible to know for sure, what kind of possible manufacturing cost differences could exist, when allowing for the varied costs involved with all the different kind of materials used in o-rings. Or, to know for sure, what profit margin, HatsanUSA is actually realizing from the price they are asking for theirs. I’ll now just have to wait & see, how well my cheap ones seem to perform & endure, as compared to the originals. Unfortunately, finding quick substitutes for their fasteners, is not as easily done. Because, of what I believe to be caused, by a bad assembly process, coupled with some quality control issues involving the fasteners being used on some Galatian QE rifles. One of the screws used to secure the side access plate, stripped out before breaking free of the loc-tite, which apparently is being used at the factory when the rifles are assembled. It too, was also apparen

Don Apr 29, 2015

Don’t be surprised, be informed! In an attempt to prepare tentative Hatsan customers & help orient them in regard to HatsanUSA’s spare parts pricing practices. Here’s another example of what you can expect to pay, for those precious Galatian maintenance replacement parts. Ordering can now be immediately done on their online web-site, through, what I believe to be, a recent upgrade in their customer service performance processes. This new process involves, a direct ordering, but email assisted confirmation, so that having the specific part number information, is not necessarily needed to start an order request . It may be, that HatsanUSA was in the process of upgrading to this service, when I had so much trouble reaching them, not that long ago. I had earlier reported feeling very gouged when starting to purchase some replacement pellet retention O-rings for my 8 Galatian magazines from HatsanUSA. Subsequently, I easily found the correct size o-rings, for just a small fraction of th

Don Apr 12, 2015

Is there no shame? HatsanUSA responded to my request to purchase replacement O-rings for my Galatian magazines. They wanted $5.95 a pair, that's right, $2.98 a piece, plus $5.00 shipping & handling. It would have cost me $52.60 for what I bought at the hardware store for $4.80. Is there a difference in the price of the materials used in those O-rings that HatsanUSA sells for that price? Does anyone know the truth to the extent of what appears on the surface to be an immoral profit margin being used in their pricing?

Don Apr 08, 2015

In only a couple of days, I did receive prompt replies from both HatsanUSA,& Lother Walther responding to my request to purchase a Lothar Walther barrel for my Galatian QE rifle. HatsanUSA's response to my request, simply stated that LW barrels are not sold or available in the USA. Having tried contacting Lothar Walther directly, I did get a message from a Woody Woodall at lotharwalther@mindspring.com, who reported that they did have barrel blanks in stock which would need a gunsmith to fit to the rifle.

Don Mar 08, 2015

cont..wonder, just what kind of business arrangement is it, that exists between Hatsan Manufacturing in Turkey, & HatsanUSA here in the States. I think, that its a shame that Hatsans reputation here in the States, is so dependent on user perceptions that maybe hampered by the HatsanUSA connection. How contrary it seems, that Hatsan appears to still be cranking out new models, & spending money advertising their products with Rick Eutsler videos, & then allow their customer support to become, non contactable. It is the established customer perception of satisfaction & support that drives on going success. Isn't it?

Don Mar 07, 2015

Having now become an unlikely proponent of the Hatsan Galatian QE rifles, but still wishing for their continued success, & a growing recognition for their high quality build & brilliant design. I find it disheartening to have to report, that the level of support for their products here in the USA, seems to have gone from bad, to worse. Starting in early 2014, my need to return several Galatian QE rifles, due to poor accuracy & minor flaws, had me dealing with HatsanUSA customer support. Although I did have a couple cordial & helpful conversations with one of their agents there (Jesse), overall, I’d have to say, that the experiences were problematic, & some promises still remain unfulfilled. Unfortunately, I now have to report that the situation now seems to have gone from bad to worse. Over the last 2 months, I have left numerous voice messages, at both optional extensions, getting no response at all. The same is true for the unanswered emails that I sent them. Again, I have to wo

My .22 was hitting bulls eyes at 50 yards using jsb 18g ammo very accurate , the only con I had with the gun was it wasnt as quiet as advertised ,but then again Its not broken in yet.

Don Jul 09, 2014

Edith--thank you very much for the updated information regarding the Galatian trigger adjustments. You’ve been both attentive, & informative, & sure seem to have a hotline to Hatsan, lol. Well done. The fact remains, that their operating manual is arguably insufficient. In addition, it is misleading in a critical area involving the setup & safe operation of the rifle. As it is now, the photo/illustration of the trigger assembly, provided in the manual to orient the user on the location & function of the trigger adjustment screws, is as much a confusion factor, as it is helpful. No where in the manual, is there even a written addendum, or statement mentioning the correct location of the 3rd adjustment screw. Now that you have informed me about it’s actual location, I believe that it is because this screw is so much larger than the other 2, along with it being located on the outside of the trigger guard, that will cause many other people, to also take it for a mounting screw, as I did. It seems pretty silly to me, that Hatsan would go through the effort of illustrating their manual, & then use an incorrect photo from the wrong model of rifle. You would think that Hatsan would realize, that this kind of oversight, is certainly contrary to faithfully upholding a consistent safety philosophy, or maintaining previously demonstrated concerns for liability limits, as shown by their decision regarding the automatically applied safety. Wouldn’t you?…Don R

Edith Jul 09, 2014

Don--You mentioned that there are only 2 trigger adjustment screws. I emailed your comments to Hatsan USA, and here's their reply: "The Galatian's 3rd adjustment screw is located in the rear portion of the rifle's trigger guard. It blends in somewhat with the black plastic of the trigger guard, and can be difficult to locate. The adjustment procedure for all of our PCP guns is the same, however the appearance of the Galatian's trigger is slightly different."

Edith Jul 02, 2014

Don R--I'm sorry to say this, but I had to delete your latest comment because it referred to someone in unsavory terms. If you like, you may write to the Pyramyd Air feedback link, which I will see, and ask for the entire text of your comment (I saved it on my desktop). You can remove the unsavory term and then repost your comment. I'm doing it this way so you can repost your comment without having to retype it since it's kind of long.

Gator Proof Jul 02, 2014

Keith, I thought I posted about your comment of needing butt shims. However, I don't see it. Click on the pictures above and you will see how the 3 butt adjusters function, unless you received some strange proto-type. Be Well

Edith Jun 30, 2014

Don--Hatsan USA said they'll look into the statement you make that one of their reps said the guns sold in the US are made in the US. Here's their reply (note that they reference your comments on this page, so they read all the comments here): "All Hatsan airguns and components are designed and manufactured at our factory located in Izmir, Turkey. There is no and has never been any manufacture of Hatsan products in the U.S. For the U.S. market, we do not equip any of our PCP models with Lothar Walther barrels. We do, however, have an agreement with Lothar Walther and there is always a possibility that our factory may equip and export a special LW model to one of our distributors - as Hatsan exports airguns to over 100 countries around the world. We have received many very favorable reviews on our QuietEnergy line of PCP airguns, especially in regards to accuracy. There are quite a few factors that affect accuracy in airguns, however. One the most important of these is pellet choice. I was unable to locate any specific information about the type of pellet he used, so I would like to make a few suggestions. In .22 caliber - at distances under 25 yards, we recommend our Hatsan Vortex Supreme 14.66gr pellet. For a range beyond 25 yards, the JSB Exact Jumbo 18.13gr and the H&N Field Target 16.36gr pellets have been tested and perform quite well."

Edith Jun 29, 2014

Don--I've sent your comments to the president of Hatsan USA and will post his reply.

Don Jun 27, 2014

Edith--Hatsan USA's number is 877-278-4448, please do report on what kind of answer they give, if you ask the questions...Don R

Edith Jun 27, 2014

Don--You said, "From what that agent told me, the only thing I learned, was that all the rifles sold in the USA, are made here in the USA, by Hatsan USA." That's not true. Hatsan guns are made in Turkey, and that's printed on their guns. I've never heard that there are Lothar Walther barrels on any Hatsan guns. If they had them, they're not saying so or announcing it anywhere on their site in Turkey or in their literature. It would be a huge selling point, so I can't imagine that it would be something they'd fail to announce.

Hi Gianni, Mine is .25 Cal. My log book shows 1076 shots. The last time I shot it few days ago I was shooting at my 25 yard range and I just shot at sharpie pen dots, she laid 5 pellets in the exact same hole. AA 25.4g and the paper tore but remained so I could it back in place. I inserted a pellet in that hole and could see no daylight. I could never do it again, lol. But the funny thing was I was on the 6th mag. so that was over 70 shots on that fill. {I have 7 mags } I could not believe it but the gun was down to 25 bar. I have a photo and saved the target in the log book. Stacy is my favorite PA service person. I am sure they are all great. Be Well

Gator Proof May 25, 2014

Hi Gianna, I have about 600 rounds on my .25 Galation and it is pretty accurate at 25 yards. All 13 rounds share one hole when shooting from an MTM Preator shooting stand. I think my best is .180" . That might sound decent but my AT44W-10 .22 shoots target after target at .140". It think the .22 is easier to group because the pellets are smaller. I use Kodak 21, 14 for .22 and 25.5 JSB for .25 rounds. Always check your oellet skirts when uounload your mags. Lay the mags flat on a hard surface so each pellet Iis in the same place inside the mag, If you are shooting against your buddies, was youe pellets ans remove slag lead. Then weigh then out and sort by weight, You will be shocked at how a tim of pellets will have up it 8 grain difference in the same can. Then if it is serious competition lube you matched pellets and make sure to reset your pellets on flat surface just before inserting into your gun. That will give you the best pellet possible to take outbyour buddies. Cheers

WHat caliber is your rifle? I have a .22 and mine is hit or miss at 20 to 25 yards, maybe it needs breaking in according to the techs at PyramydAir, I hope this is true I would really hate having a .22 Pellet shotgun since it sprays the shots here and there after the first, thank in advance for your reply.

Shipping Restrictions
It's important to know that due to state and local laws, there are certain restrictions for various products. It's up to you to research and comply with the laws in your state, county, and city. If you live in a state or city where air guns are treated as firearms you may be able to take advantage of our FFL special program.

U.S. federal law requires that all airsoft guns are sold with a 1/4-inch blaze orange muzzle or an orange flash hider to avoid the guns being mistaken for firearms.
