10 of 36 H&N Baracuda Green, Lead Free .177 (4.5mm) Cal Reviews
My go-to pellets, at least the undisputed champs before H&N started also producing the less expensive Match Green pellets (in tins of 500 instead of 300). The new wadcutters from H&N are pretty much equivalent in quality and utility, but they're considerably more affordable, which is a big plus for lead-free shooters. These aerodynamic pellets also are extremely accurate in all the air rifles in which I've tried them, and they work MUCH better in magazines (particularly those for my .177 and .22 caliber Dragonfly Mk2's) than do the Match pellets. These also produce a noticeably smaller footprint on reactive targets (such as Shoot-N-C and Splatterburst) than do their Match rounds, undoubtedly due to their being domed rather than flat. Depending on the targets I'm using, that can be a big advantage for me over other, less aerodynamically efficient pellets. Another truly excellent product from H&N!
Things I Would Have ChangedPRICE (more pellets for less money)!!!! Sure, that's blue-sky, wishful thinking, but hey, if I really could change something... :-)
What Others Should KnowGreat in both .177 and .22 caliber. Until Pyramyd started carrying the H&N Match Green pellets, these were my undisputed, absolute favorites. The Field Target Trophy Green from H&B are a similarly domed pellet, but they're smaller, considerably lighter and I've had some problems with them being inaccurate in a few of my variable pumpers and won't be buying more when I run out. I've built up a stash of a few thousand of these extremely nice pellets (only the Predator GTO lead-free are better, IMO) that I'll be sure to keep in stock as long as I can afford them, along with the more affordable H&N Match Green pellets. For my needs, these (and the Match Green) H&N lead-free pellets are far and away the best available when it comes to price versus performance.
they work well in my Gauntlet thank-you
Not much.
Things I Would Have ChangedSize is too big, not sure they are 4.50mm. Wont shoot out of my brand new Dan Wesson 4" and 2.5 ". Stock with 3 tins at $15.99 each. :(
What Others Should KnowDont stock up on these until you try them
lead free, nice through my Remington Hunter Expree NP
Things I Would Have ChangedLower price would be a plus...
What Others Should KnowGreat pellets for plinking, small varmints, a lil costly, but not bad.
accurate, work well in my Schofield no. 3, no test in my Umarex SA-10 as of yet, work is keeping me busy now.
Things I Would Have Changednothing
What Others Should Knoweach gun, each person is different, need to try them to see how they work in your gun, guns, most experts will tell you this.
Nice projectory and grouping at 70 yards. Flies straight without tumble at 1600 fos
Things I Would Have ChangedNothing
What Others Should KnowI could go on but you should buy and see for yourself
Lead free - good for environment
Things I Would Have ChangedPrice
What Others Should KnowWorked great in Trail NP, jammed in Baikal IZH-61 (have not found a lead-free pellet that doesn't jam in it)
size/shape
Things I Would Have ChangedImprove accuracy.
What Others Should KnowDisappointing...Did not live up to the claims of the manufacturer
Easy availability. Lead free.
Things I Would Have ChangedAccuracy. Other lead free pellets work excellently for 10m targets in my Crosman 2300KT (with Lothar Walther match barrel), namely H&N Match Green 5.25 gr wadcutter, Predator GTO 5.5 gr wadcutter, and GTO 6.79 gr domed.
What Others Should KnowIn defense of this design, the .22 caliber version works well in my 2240. The .177 version? On an indoor 10M range, they fly all over the map out of my 2300KT and are equivalently bad in my Vigilante. I don't want to down-rate a pellet because it won't work in one particular gun, but these are really bad in both my .177 guns. I never believed in that mythical love/hate relationship between pellets and guns ... until I tried these. The evidence is clear: 3 lead free designs/weights that work excellently, and these fail horrendously ... You'll have to send your gun on a blind date with these to see what happens. Hopefully you'll get better results than I did. Go in peace good people!

Very well made (consistency in shape and size, etc.). For me, the H&N Baracuda Green pellets are pretty good; maybe one of the best going, if you're interested in going lead-free. Just enough weight to ensure accuracy, whether using only three pumps or the whole works, out of the many variable pumpers and CO2 air rifles in which I've tried 'em (Crosman, Winchester, Benjamin, Seneca, Beeman, etc.).
Things I Would Have ChangedGreat Scott! These things are outrageously expensive! I bought about sixteen tins just a few months ago, which saved me a good bit, but as much as they cost then (I think it was about 3 to 4c each, after the multiples of 4 tins discount and free shipping), they're FAR more costly now (just under six cents each)! My wife insists the cost to stay lead free is worth it, but I can't help but be shocked by just how much more expensive my airgun hobby as become, just from the difference in pellet costs! I used to get lead pellets that would see me through a full month of target shooting (almost always at a penny a piece, sometimes two in .22 caliber) for the cost of just two-hundred of these (a single tin), and there's no discernable difference in performance, as one might hope from something costing five or six times more...
What Others Should KnowINCREDIBLY expensive!
