Description
One piece of airgun aristocracy has gotten a little easier to own, thanks to FX Airguns’ latest addition to the Crown line of Pre-charged pneumatic air rifles: The FX Crown VP.
“VP” stands for value priced. But, aside from replacing the 480cc carbon fiber bottle normally stock on the Crown with a 400cc air bottle, everything else is identical to a standard FX Crown. The best part is that you can upgrade to the carbon fiber bottle at any time if you so desire.
Wrapped in an ambidextrous, black synthetic thumbhole stock, this entry-level model still incorporates all the precision components that have made the original Crown, first released in 2017, the iconic PCP air rifle it’s become in that short time. Some of these components include FX’s adjustable AMP regulator and the innovative STX barrel system. The new barrels retain the interchangeable barrel liner system, allowing shooters to use different liners with differing twist rates to optimize the performance of specific types of ammo. There's also an external hammer spring adjustment and transfer port adjustment.
Just fill the air bottle up to its 232 BAR (3,365 PSI) capacity and, depending on which caliber FX Crown VP rifle you choose, enjoy up to 150 consistent shots, thanks to the built-in regulator. The fully shrouded barrel keeps its downrange report low enough to allow for back-yard plinking and, with manufacturer-reported muzzle energies of up to 91 FPE (in .30-cal), the Crown can make for the perfect pest-elimination tool or small game hunter.
So go ahead - give your airgunning game the royal treatment and invest in one of the best with the FX Crown VP.

10 of 18 FX Airguns Crown VP Synthetic Reviews
I have the 22 caliber version. Extremely accurate, well made, and easy to shoot. The cocking effort is reasonable, and the trigger is crisp and light. The gun balances well and it is fairly light and compact. Good shot count and shot to shot consistency. Very quiet with the stock moderator. Buy it, you will not be disappointed.
Things I Would Have ChangedCould be a bit more powerful with heavy pellets. Adjusting the internal and external hammer spring tension, and the regulator settings only results in modest power increases.
What Others Should KnowThe first Crown VP that I received leaked air and I returned it. Pyramid Air promptly sent me another gun and this one works well.
The magazine has a small o-ring on the cover. This holds the magazine in place in the receiver. On one magazine it fell off and I used a piece to tape to create a friction fit in the receiver.
Extraordinaria rifle

What Others Should Knowfantastic
This thing is a tack driver....originally got in .25 added a .30 cal. Barrel kit and changing is a dream easy and retains point of impact after each change....so i now have 2 calibers with 1 gun!! I shot and zeroed for the original. 25...then installed the .30 was on left and right but after tuning for the .30 and bumping up the reg to 140 from 130 of the .25 was spot on... Reinstalled the .25 and found it to be 1 inch off was all!!! I now can dial in for both calibers!!!
Things I Would Have ChangedWish it had a sling stud ..
What Others Should KnowGreat gun for the price!!
You won't be disappointed if you step up to the crown!!

Wasn't a fan of the telescopic shroud but it tames the bark of this gun a lot. The feel is unlike anything I've felt before, soft and grippy. The gun functions and looks amazing and most importantly it's function is beyond my expectations. Bought this to mainly shoot hybrid slugs in .22 I as of right now cannot give a reliable fps from the box meaning no hammer adjustment screw adjusted, no reg adjustment either, it's straight from the box, whilst breaking it in max fps I recorded was 875 with th hybrid slugs but that may just increase as it settles in more and more.
Things I Would Have ChangedOnly thing I'd change are the FX factory pressure gauges, these gauges are pure garbage and I think FX should really look into this. It's through other reviews I decided to get 2 from Huma to replace the stock gauges and it was a good move as I received the gun and removed the stock gauges the one that was on the reg still read 20 bar and it wasn't even attached to the gun.
What Others Should KnowThe Crown just like the impact is capable of many, many things so I believe whatever you want from a PCP can be attained with this Crown which is brilliant but as for now I'll stick to the hybrid slugs because of their amazing BC.
Tac driver lighter than it looks
Things I Would Have ChangedLittle regulator creep
What Others Should KnowI know lots of money but if you can afford buy it you won't be disappointed caliber changes buy one gun and get different barrels can't miss
This is by far the best airgun I have ever bought. You can just feel the quality when you pick it up. As you can see in all the videos on this gun, it is very accurate, very adjustable, totally reliable, has an extremely smooth action and is super quiet. I have tried 4 or 5 different pellets in it, and they all shoot perfectly. I bought this because it was hundreds of dollars cheaper than the regular Crown with laminated stock and a carbon fiber bottle. Other than those two things, it is just the same. Pyramid Air sent it out one day after I ordered it, even during this time of a reduced work force due to the virus. It arrived in a couple of days in a very nice case which is big enough to hold the rifle and whatever scope you mount on it.
Things I Would Have ChangedI would like to be able to reduce the power just a little more, since all of my shooting is backyard plinking.
What Others Should KnowThis is one of the best, if not the best, airgun you can buy. At this price, it can't be beat.
Good machining and finish. The action is smooth and the magazine performs perfectly. Out of the box the barrel was reasonably clean which is more than you can say for a lot of guns. The power and hammer adjustments are simple and pretty straight forward. It shoulders nicely but has far less stock adjustment than I would have expected on a rifle at this price point. The air capacity is great and I did not find the weight of the steel bottle vs teh carbon fiber bottle to be a significant concern. Very nice smooth trigger
Things I Would Have ChangedPlan to bolt thru the stock if you want to attach a stable bipod to the rifle. There is really no reason not to have a rail already integrated into the stock. But mostly, plan to thoroughly inspect the rifle when you take it out of the box. And hopefully you bought this rifle already equipped with the skills to work on it yourself to fix the minor issues and possibly the major issues. I would definitely change the indifference and slow responses to problems demonstrated by FX USA.
What Others Should KnowI would love to give this gun a good review. I own 5 other airguns including a couple top springers (Weihrauch HW97K and Diana model 48). But I bought two of these rifles; one for myself and one for a neighbor. The neighbor's gun was accurate and he was enjoying it thoroughly when after about 50 pellets the cocking arm failed. He was able to repair it by putting in a critical screw that had been left entirely out of his gun. The rifle I had leaked air but seemed to stop after some shooting. I put it away to work with other guns for a couple months. Short version, the rifle still leaks and the regulator response is painfully slow. BUT, repair under warranty; right? Um, first no response from FX USA. Complaint to FX International got me a US phone number where I was told they were sorry about the problems but couldn't deal with repairs until the shut-down is over. Every other airgun company can, but not FX. Totally disappointed in quality control and response. Sad.
VP stands for Value Price, and that should have been BAVA ( Best Airgun Value Anywhere ) because the discount price for a air rifle that has won the Extreme Bench Rest Championship and is much less than a Impact. I tested my .22 Crown on a NRA 50 foot small bore target and have scored 96 out of 100 with a front rest only. I expect to be able to shoot a perfect 100 on a calm day. That is not easy target for Anschutz .22rf target rifle. The 10 ring is the same size of the head of a pin. The trigger is a crisp 1 pound.
Things I Would Have ChangedI was not to crazy about the high capacity .22 magazine since I am used to loading 10 or less at my gun club, so I purchased a mini magazine that holds 11 pellets. I like the smaller magazine. It was only $49.
What Others Should KnowI plan on buying the .25 600mm Barrel to shoot some 100 yard targets and some NRA .22 rf silhoettes with 32 grain pellets.

This is my most accurate airgun. At 75 yards, it will group 0.80-0.85 inch with the JSB 25gr pellets. I see many owners want a rail on this rifle. OK, several companies make rails that will fit, just epoxy them on the stock and enjoy the advantages of a bipod, sling, light, laser, whatever. I have done this with every airgun I own when a rail was not included in the design. Selling the gun? The buyers have all thought the rail was a plus. So no problem. The synthetic stock has a very nice feel to it, kinda Goldy Locks, not too smooth, not too grippy, just right. Several friends of mine agree.
Things I Would Have ChangedI love my FX Airguns. I have owned 5 different models within the past 12 years. But the magazines are a bit fiddly to load, although 100% reliable for me. I use the aftermarket CARM magazines. Reliable, cheaper, and very easy to load. Will they last? Mine are 1 year old and still working fine.
What Others Should KnowIf your collection of airguns does not include at least one FX model, you need to try this Crown. The newest version of the standard barrel (smooth twist X) will shoot slugs. And that alone is reason to buy this model. Slugs are 25%-50% more accurate on windy days. I have proven this to myself many times.
This gun, like many air rifles, is not a lightweight. I use it as my benchrest gun.
