10 of 14 Diana P-Five Reviews
The Diana P5. Is fairly accurate once you get the hang of it. The Diana P5 is not as Accurate as the Diana Airbug or the Diana Chaser in my Opinion. I am happy with the Diana P5 for the price I paid. $69.00 dollars is not bad. I would give it a good value and rate it a great value.
Things I Would Have ChangedNot sure what you could change, Maybe if the P five were a Co2 pistol.
What Others Should KnowThe only thing I can think of is just
Practice until you get The hang of it.. It is a fun gun to shoot though.
It has a good heft in the hand, and the cocking force is quite manageable.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe trigger as it ships requires an enormous amount of force. I would ship the gun with a lighter trigger setting. I believe you can adjust it, but you'll need to discover which screwdriver bit works and it better be a small one because the hole to get to the adjustment screw is pretty small. Safety is almost inaccessible and difficult to engage if you have fat fingers.
What Others Should KnowThe rear sight is barely functional; it makes this gun wildly inaccurate. While elevation can be easily adjusted with one screw backed up by a small spring, the windage adjustment just doesn't work well. I could only get the v-sight to move a little bit, not as much as I needed. There are two screws for this windage part and while the instructions say to only loosen the left one, the right one works, too, but either of them are negligible for windage adjustment. Curiously, the gun shipped missing its elevation spring (as did a Diana Bandit I ordered a month later) so I had to find the US Diana distributor - they're in Vancouver, BC. They sent me 2 replacement rear sights which turned out to be as mediocre as the original. I've removed the rear sight and installed a simple red dot on the 11 mm weaver rail. I suspect this is not one of Diana's premiere air guns.
The cocking force isn’t terribly onerous. It shoots accurately. I’m sure through eventual trial and error I will find a pellet it favors, but for now I can’t complain about any of them. I don’t find it a heavy pistol although it isn’t by any means “compact”!
Things I Would Have ChangedCuriously, this pistol shipped missing the spring in the rear sight. I had to go through quite an exercise to discover who was responsible for Diana products in the US, but once I found them, and communicated the problem, they sent me two sets of rear sights (my Diana Bandit had the same issue!) and I installed them successfully so as to be able to adjust the rear sights.
What Others Should KnowSomewhat long for a pistol, it will require a diligent search before you find a suitable soft or hard case for it. All in all, once you figure out your individual Diana airguns’s idiosyncrasies you’ll discover that they are accurate and enjoyable. Read the other reviews, too, as their suggestions and observations are more sophisticated than mine as they have more intimate acquaintance with the internals of air guns. One reviewer spoke of the recoil and how a looser hold might help.
Great trigger feel, solid construction. Has a rail for optics. Pretty decent accuracy out to around 10 yards, after that it's not so good but I can't rule out my lack of skill in that regard.
Things I Would Have ChangedMake it more powerful.
What Others Should KnowThis is a rebranded Snow Peak gun. Diana does a good job of disguising it's Chinese made origins. I also bought the .22 off brand model on Amazon. I removed the standard sights and added Center Point red/green dot sights. They help tremendously with accuracy and the guns are pretty on point up to about 10 yards out. The off brand .22 came with grease slopped all over it and dieseled a lot. The Diana is much cleaner and smoother out of the box.
Solid, minimal.
Things I Would Have ChangedNothing
What Others Should KnowThis is a difficult pistol to shoot accurately due to the relatively severe recoil. I have good luck using a loose hold to allow the gun to move in a vertical plane during recoil. If the gun is held tightly the shots hit high due to the rotational motion induced during recoil. This is excellent practice as a consistent hold is mandatory and negative feedback is immediate.
Solid, simple break barrel pistol. Dovetail. Rear sight removes with two screws. Front sight pops off with a heat gun. LOTS OF FUN with a cheap pistol scope and brass muzzle break.
Things I Would Have ChangedNothing, I love this little gun, I have two. They are great for 10m-15m shooting.
What Others Should KnowEasy to modify trigger (at this price range triggers are sold overly safe, higher performance can be had for little effort or $) install an M3x10mm set screw from Amazon for $6 into the trigger, take the grip off and play with the sear retaining screw, you can even decrease the head diameter for further adjustments....these all can exceed the "bump fire" limit or no engagement points.
The barrel breaks easily and loading the pellet is uncomplicated. I detect no barrel droop owing to the peculiarities of a break barrel pistol. The trigger, while a little stiff, may ease with use. Feels good in the hand. Sights are adequate.
What Others Should KnowPrice is reasonable for a very basic Diana air gun.
At first the trigger was very hard, however after about 200 shots it got much better and a fun gun to target shoot.
Things I Would Have ChangedMake the trigger better.
What Others Should KnowFun gun for the money.
I wanted to amend my previous review. I think the inaccuracy I experienced may have been the fault of the inexpensive red dot sight I mounted. I can't say for sure because I've been unable to mount a better one. The trigger on this gun is exceptionally good for this price. Overall quality is really good. Gun should give you years of plinking fun.
Things I Would Have ChangedOne of the reasons I bought the gun is because it has a dovetail so, theoretically, you can mount scopes and red dots. This is hindered by the fact that the rear sight doesn't seem to be removeable. There isn't enough room left for an adaptor. So you are limited in what sights you can use.
What Others Should KnowSafety is on the trigger.
Spring piston does make the gun jerk quite a bit.

Good value for the money.
Things I Would Have ChangedTrigger adjustment is not as good as the Diana Air Bug. Not sure if this can be improved because of the low cost.
What Others Should KnowHad to spend some time with a small file to reduce the trigger pressure.
Accuracy was not consistent, but good enough for general plinking. Not good enough for 10 m. match shooting.
