The historically-inspired Viking Hand Axe is a design collaboration between Lynn C. Thompson, and custom bladesmiths Dave Baker and Rich McDonald. The stout 30" American Hickory handle, extra broad and sharp cutting edge, hooking beard, and up-swept thrusting horn combine to make a formidable fighting axe that would be the pride of any Vikings collection! A Cor-Ex sheath, which is sold separately, is available for the Viking Bearded Axe.

The 30" straight handle, the bearded blade, i love the entire design. Although I have bought about six of them now because the handles break overtime. But, that is to be expected when you use axes to throw. My last one only lasted about a month, throwing for about an hour every day. Let me give you a tip as a professional axe thrower. If you folks made this axe with a black fiberglass handle and fascined the blade to the handle for permanent stability. It would be the number one viking axe on the market. Atleast consider selling replacement handles for this axe because I need six of them.
I have owned this for years now. Out of the box, the cutting edge was ok, but the grind angle was too shallow (for my use case), so the cutting edge became fat too fast, reducing its effectiveness at biting deep. After grinding a new profile, the axe has been a main stay in my kit. The original grind profile required more effort than I would like to bite into wood, and as I brought this as a practical tool for wood working, and not one for hewing/cleaving foes and shields without fear of loosing my axe, the original grind was not suitable. Though, I would argue that unless you are a time traveller wanting to take a visit to Lindisfarne in 793, a steeper grind angle would be better for most use cases. I would also recommend replacing the handle, with something a little more sturdy. Especially if you're planning on visiting Lindisfarne in the near past.

I was disappointed when the product didn't come put together. It came in 2 pieces. The axe head wasn't pinned onto the handle. Now i have to find a way to fix it.
I got this as a gift from my wife. I have u.!se this bad boy for 4 years now,very hard up here in the north woods. I dose everything I ask of it. Holds a pretty darn good edge. Remember,this is a tomahawk not a full size axe. Keep that in mind. You be solid
Head is loose on handle.made in Taiwan and not sharp.very cool looking replica.
I’ve had one for a few years now. Love the shape, weight, and quality. Use it often. No chips, no issues. Sharpening and customizing the handle is the customers end so I’m not sure why people complain about this. Great Ax. I’d love a larger version of the exact same head.
Nice piece. Didn't care for the made in Tiawan etched into the blade. Nice balance very weildable tool. Needed to sharpen it (I am a snobe about sharp tools) . Handle is a great length. All in all it is a nice piece...
Needed a quick sharpen out of the box, but that's par for the course when it comes to blades ordered online. Solidly made and respectably functional for its price, it is a worthy axe.
