Description
This beautiful rendition of the classic pirates cutlass features all the look and makings of the sword that was known by sailors across the world during the 17th century. Made from 1075 high-carbon steel, this functional sword features a curved blade. It is wider on the tip half of the blade with a slightly higher spine. There are three fullers that run down the narrower section of the blade near the spine. The basket-hilt crossguard has S-shaped quillons. One of the quillons bends towards the spine of the blade. The other bends back towards the hilt. The basket guard has a shell shape on one side with the remaining sides having an open swept shape. A berry-like accent adorns this basket guard and the ends of the quillons. The hilt has a black leather wrapped grip. It ends with a fan-shaped pommel. Finally, this sword comes with a black scabbard. It has a silver-colored chape and throat. Seashell designs adorn the chape, while more intricate nautical designs adorn the throat. The throat has a metal loop for hanging on a belt.

Very glad to have made this purchase. Personal measurements put the blade at 26 inches and the handle(pommel included) at 7 inches. The Blade: Very sharp and sturdy. Width appears to be around 2 inches at the base which up until the tip where it measures at around 1.5 inches. Sharp all the way down and does not rattle when striking suitable targets. Made short work of the box it came in. The handle: Suitably fit. Does not produce any rattling sounds when struck. Overshadowed by a seashell motif guard on both sides divided by a pair of curved embellished quillions at the center of the sword hilt. Handle material prevents slips, but may prove uncomfortable if swung many times without gloves. The Scabbard: Suitable. Made of leather and metal and containing designs of skulls, seashells, and krakens on only the side with the belt hanger. Does not extend to both sides, but that is not a bad thing. Blade slides out when you want it to and does not seem to slip out on its own so far. Conclusion: While a bit heavier than anticipated, this piece is a welcome addition for any pirate enthusiast or avid sword collector. The people who manufacture these blades do good work and I am always happy to see what product they'll release next.

I bought this just recently for my boyfriends upcoming birthday, it came in extremely fast, wrapped perfectly and sealed tight. I am ecstatic for him to open it. I have peaked inside the box and the cutlass looks just as pictured but even more extravagant in real life, it's fully functional and I would say itsw or the more than it's being sold for!!
