This Cane Sword lives up to its hype, and then some. Right off the bat you can feel the quality just by holding it in your hand. The construction is SOLID and the blade, listen, you'll feel VERY well protected if you had to whip it out to defend yourself, it is SHAAAAAARP as ForUnlawfulCarnalKnowledge, dig? The "cane" configuration (i.e. the scabbard) isn't a slouch either, a good wallop with it anywhere will bring instant attention to the fact you "mean business" and IF you have to draw the blade, well I can hear the verbal backtracking already, "Oh uh, sorry man it's cool I got no beef." Anyone who'd hassle/assault/attack a person with a cane needs a wake-up call, just don't be the jagoff who starts it all... Speak softly and carry a concealed Cane Sword, strictly for self-defense!

I bought the heavy duty sword cane about 5 years ago and am very impressed with everything except the O-ring retention method. One of the rings broke the first time i pulled it out of the cane. I thought no big deal ill just get a spare. But nothing I had of could find would fit. I emailed Cold Steel and they sent me a link to a form to fill out, which i did, and never heard back. After a lot of searching I gave up and just wrapped the handle of the sword with "hockey" or "grip" tape to make it a friction fit. This has actually worked much better than the origianl O rings. You can adjust the tension needed to remove the sword by adjusting how many times the tape it wrapped around the handle. Added benefit of having a more secure grip on the handle due to the tape. This sword cane met all my expectations: good sword, good cane. I did need to adjust the length of the cane to fit my height. I sawed off approximately one inch from the bottom. I was unable to get the rubber tip off before sawing. After, I realized that the rubber goes up the inside of the cane several inches to hold the tip of the sword away from the inside surface of the tube. No problem. I just used some tape to wrap the rubber so that it fit snuggly into the tube again. Then put a store bought rubber tip back on the cane. It’s perfect. I love it.

I’ve had this since 2008. Fortunately never had to use it on a person. I was mad and slammed the cane straight to the floor. The sword doesn’t tang through the handle so it broke off at the handle. It was all plastic
