GURKHA KUKRI PLUS (CPM 3V)
The Kukri blade, with its markedly downward curved blade, has long been identified with the Gurkha Warriors of Nepal, the ferocious mercenaries who have wielded this blade for over 150 years in the service of the British Empire. The Cold Steel Gurkha Kukri was inspired by Cold Steel President, Lynn C. Thompsons close association with Dr. Maung Gyi, chief instructor of the American Bando Association, and a renowned martial artist with wide-ranging knowledge and skills. Under Dr. Gyis tutelage, Lynn gained insight into the full potential of the Kukri and learned it was not just a chopping weapon but a piercing, slashing, and smashing weapon as well. Smashing techniques allow the Kukri to function as a hammer or mallet or to deliver non-lethal blows in a self-defense role. A concentrated blow with the back of the blade can break bones or be lethal if directed at the head. With Dr. Gyis input, Thompson designed a longer, narrower point for the Gurkha Kukri with more distal tapering to the spine. This resulted in a thinner, sharper point which can be deeply driven into thick, tough targets with minimal effort. Finally, a masterfully designed Kray-Ex handle was added to maximize the blades fierce potential. Perfectly contoured and deeply checkered, it offers a superb non-slip grip and cushions the hand from the shock of the hardest blow. The Gurkha Kukri Plus CPM-3V tool steel blade will out-chop any factory or handmade knives; including swords twice its size, even expensive, hand-forged Japanese Katanas. Its the heaviest Kukri on the market. The blade is almost an inch wider near the tip than at the handle, shifting the knifes balance point forward to allow a substantial blow to be struck with minimal effort, using inertia alone to complete the cut. Each Gurkha Kukri is supplied with a Secure-Ex sheath to protect the blade and allow you to wear it safely and securely on your side always ready to defend you and your loved ones.

Not better than AFC Knives. They are selling at really fair prices with best quality.
Got this from my wife for anniversary present. I have a BUNCH of knives and most are CS. Very disappointed at how dull this blade is out of the box.. For the $$ I expected more but is a heavy beautiful hammer
Blade itself is exactly as marketed - amazing. The knife sheath has warnings about gripping it in three places. It's unrealistic that the sheath will not have to be gripped in some scenarios - this is concerning. Why not just make a better sheath for the price being charged ?
I was issued my first Cold Steel Kukri in Carbon 5 in the 80s. It is still a great tool and in great shape. The leather sheath is a bit lacking but serviceable. I bought this model due to the design change of the blade and the new metal having a Dawson blade made out of it. The new sheath is a massive improvement and very usable. The CPM 3V steel is much harder and holds an edge unbelievable well. I was able to find a bluing solution that worked on the blade as it was too bright (did the same thing to the Laredo Bowie before deployment). Should be very handy for butchering large game and getting it out of the bush. I am looking forward to putting it through its paces.
This kukri can replace a hatchet (and knife) for heavy chopping and wood prep. We all know that. The real revelation is that the kukri is safer and more efficient than a hatchet. If your an older guy and/ or have ever nearly chopped your foot off, try a good kukri. You’ll be amazed.
I know the kukri is a "machete" and supposed to be a tool for chopping, but this thing is absolutely a weapon. 10/10

I have four other khukris but this one really out shines the others. The kray-ex really ensure a secure grip and I have fairly big hands. The balance is good and i haven't found anything yet that this blade can't handle without attempting something i wouldn't use any bladed weapon to cut.
