Description
A balance of performance, quality features, and price point, the Chief is Beeman's first foray into budget-friendly, entry-level PCP guns.
With a look that harkens back to classical styling, the Chief’s hardwood stock offers a lot to love over its synthetic counterparts. Each stock is proudly embossed with yellow-hued Beeman logo. This airgun steps up the game with an adjustable 2-stage trigger—a great feature for an entry level PCP. For sighting, shooters can use the included fiber optic sights or mount their optics to the 11mm Dovetail rail for precision shots.
Filling to 2000 psi, users can easily fill their Chief's 136cc cylinder with a handpump, or small tank for shot after repeating shot. Load up a pellet and send it spiraling downrange at speeds up to 1000 fps (in .177). Beeman’s specs claim this PCP can shoot up to 50 rounds in .177 or 35 in .22.
If you are looking to break into the exciting world of PCP airgunning, grab the Chief, and be pleased with its performance, quality, and its price!

10 of 43 Beeman QB Chief Reviews
Super accurate and great trigger
Things I Would Have ChangedRear sight is 1/8 inch higher in relationship to front sight in its lowest position. Had to make a spacer block for the front sight.
The overall good looks. Ease of loading. Ease of filling with a hand pump. Love the vintage appearance similar to several of my all time favorite Crosman 160 Co2 models. We got a .22 and a .177 we loved this so much.
Things I Would Have ChangedNothing. Feel like this one was made just for me!
What Others Should KnowIf you loved your older Co2 similar type models, you will love these classy new PCP models.
Was surprised on the power of this gun. Pretty accurate, at 25 yards I can group a 1.5" with open sites. With a 20 year old $30 scope it groups 1.5" at 40 yards. This was with windy conditiions. I like the feel of the gun and it is easy to hand pump. This is shooting 7.8 grain pellets and are hitting as hard as my old 1000 fps springer.
Things I Would Have ChangedNothing
What Others Should KnowShoots down from 1900 psi to 1000 psi in around 13 shots
Where do I start with the things that I like about this rifle? This is a great design, from the wooden stock to the awesome power this thing packs. Out of the box, the barrel was a bit wonky. That probably happened during shipping, but I loosened the front strap and the barrel went right back into position, I tightened the strap down and I was off and running. The first time that I pulled the trigger, the sound shocked me. It is much louder than I had expected and more powerful than I expected. I removed the rear sight to accommodate a 3x9x40 scope and had it zeroed in less than a dozen shots. After 100 shots this thing is dead accurate at 20 yards and I am seeing no change in power or accuracy at 30 yards, in fact, it seemed to be hitting a little high at 30 yards as compared to 20 yards. Oh, and it loves heavy pellets, 10.5's, and 14-grain ammo shoot just as well as, if not better than, standard pellets. Finally, it is much less pellet brand sensitive than my other air rifles.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe bolt is a little sticky and crunchy when cocking, but, at this price point, I kind of expected that. Same with the trigger, a bit crunchy, not horrible, but not good either. The trigger pull is kind of short and heavier than I would like and unfortunately, on this model, it doesn't seem to be adjustable. I have several sub-$100 air rifles with 2 stage adjustable triggers, really nice triggers, I believe Beeman could have added that to this rifle to have made it a complete joy to shoot.
What Others Should KnowThis is my first PCP, and it has been a great experience so far. Thank you Beeman for making it affordable.
I ordered this gun and got it in two days. Really fast shipping. Recently did some plinking from about 60 feet away and hit the little yellow goat on my second shot. This gun is beautiful. It performed perfectly and I love the fiber optic sights. I wish all of my guns had them. I really like using the bolt. I feel like I am using an old rifle. Great price. Thanks again PA!
Things I Would Have ChangedI would like to see a magazine for this gun that fits it's current configuration. I know that the QB Chief 2 has a magazine, but I do not like the look of the barrel being so far above the air reservoir. It is a minor issue. It is still fun to single load.
What Others Should KnowBuy it! It is cheap, nice looking, accurate, and fun to shoot.
The look and simplicity. The price. The accuracy is excellent. Hardly takes any air to fill it up. Shot count is not too bad for the little air it needs.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe Safety would be much nicer as a cross bolt instead of a lever in the same location. The barrel band should be metal and also indexed so the barrel cannot flex and be tightened left or right. (Check this prior to sighting in) adjust the barrel so it is straight.
What Others Should KnowThis is my favorite pcp, I have much higher priced rifles but I just love this rifle. There something about shooting an inexpensive rifle that can perform nearly as well as the rest.
Comfortable and much lighter than the break barrels that I am used to. Easy to use. Consistently powerful and accurate from full down to about 1000 psi, then the groupings started to spread out. Able to fire about 80 rounds before this happened though.
Things I Would Have ChangedThis gun would be amazing with some kind of magazine attachment to make reloading slightly more user friendly. As it is, you need to load in a single pellet at a time. Also, the seal between the air tank and barrel blew on me after the first use. Started leaking air out of the barrel instead of pressurizing. Still waiting to hear from Pyramyd as well as Beeman to find a fix, so customer service would be another improvement I would like to see.
I bought one two years ago in .177. It has been holding air for 4months now which is a good sign. I like the rifle very much but wish it could be fitted with a silencer but there is not enough clearance at the end of the barrel. Trigger is ok but not great. Weight and balance is good. Fit and finish is good if you like a satin finish. I would rate this 7 out 10.
Things I Would Have ChangedBetter trigger and design it so it could take a silencer. Stock finish could be better. This rifle makes a very loud noise when fired, thus the need for a silencer. It does not effect me because I live in the country.
What Others Should KnowFor $179 you can go wrong. My gun shoots fairly flat out to 25 yards with a 8gr pointed pellent. I don't regret my purchase. My advice is to hold out for the .22 version.
Like an original QB 78 that used CO2 cartridge, only this one uses compressed air which I like better..I had a QB CO2 that I modified and it did not hold up well. Good price accuracy not as good as I would like but have not tried different pellets yet. Probably much better accuracy at lower velocity so not necessary to over fill. Easy to fill with hand pump. Can easily mount scope.
Things I Would Have ChangedIt is a Chinese QB so nothing to change .I bought my first QB for $98 .
What Others Should KnowGood play rifle, can use for barnyard pest. Poor trigger.

I like pretty much everything. The main thing I want out of a gun is accuracy and the Chief seems to be accurate. I bought my Chief a few years ago from Pyramid Air but I just shot it for the first time a few days ago.. I mounted a 4 power scope on it that came with a Beeman Springer that I purchased years ago and have shot it a few times at 25 yards. I have shot some decent groups with it, one very good but not quite as good as I want. I have a much better scope with an AO, as soon as I can afford it I'm going to buy some high rings so I can mount it. I suspect my groups will greatly improve with the variable power and the AO.
Things I Would Have ChangedThey should check the sights before they ship them out. If If I was going to shoot with the iron sights I would have to file the top of the back site down or I would have to put a shim under the front site. Also I am old school and would rather have plain black sites. Or a plain black site and a bead on the front site.
What Others Should KnowI've read some reviews that tell of different problems that people have had with their Chiefs parts breaking and such. The only problems I've had with mine are the sites being off and a very slow air leak. The air leak is so miniscule that it is hardly worth mentioning, but as I said I haven't shot it very much so we shall see.
