10 of 12 Athlon Optics Midas EDC Red Reviews

Easy to install, PERFECT size for my Hellcat Pro. I’ve used it a few times at the range and my grouping improved so much! I would love a few more key features like raise to wake and such, but for this price and quality, I feel extremely satisfied! It is definitely beginner friendly, however experts will be surprised just as well. If you are on the fence with this red dot, I would urge you to go for it! Will NOT be disappointed!

I mounted this directly to a g43x mos with its native rmsc mounting pattern and have carried it for about a week now. It stood up to firing about 350 rounds in approximately 45 minutes rather well. I would have fired more quickly but the gun just got too hot to hold. Held zero and retained torque, allowing me to make consistent hits on the 9 and 10 zones of the Oakland PD modified BT-5 silhouette target at 25 yards, the max available at my range, with two consecutive 15 rd mags at rapid (fire-acquire-fire) pace. Things to keep in mind: 1. The adjustments have no clicks; it is not reassuring, but my worries were calmed by it's ability to maintain zero under this firing schedule. 2. The shake-awake mechanism feels less robust than my 510c, and shut off on its own once during this range trip. I may have set it down on a piece of brass or range gear that managed to depress the button and shut it off, but when I turned it back on it was at minimum brightness setting. this would be less of an issue if the optic didn't almost completely obscure the front sight. it turned off between strings of fire while reloading mags, and I've taken that into account for my rating. For it's price, it makes a surprisingly robust carry optic. I trust athlon optics on every rifle I have them on, and now I'm glad to add them to my carry arsenal.

For the price point its great, could be better designed but its what it is. Only complaint I have it the buttons for the brightness keep getting hit when in the holster. Buttons could be made harder to push and would solve the only problem i am having with it.

Mounted and used for ~50 rounds of shooting. After around 25 rounds the optic shifted and the red dot was quite left of the original. I will have to take it out again and reset and try again, but seems right now at least it isn't extremely reliable. Other than that, it was easy to mount and adjust and the red dot is plenty bright with a wide range of brightness adjustment. I will come back and edit my review after another 100 rounds or so.

What is better than 1? Getting 2 Red Dots for His and Her Hellcats as 31st Anniversary gifts.

I've had this on my edc for about 9 months, still the orginal battery. Very accurate, I've had to clean the lens and emitter every 3 months because of the deep concealment holster. But overall it's found a permanent home on my edc.

this sight needed a new battery after 9 months, not 50000 hrs, not even close. then after carrying this for about a year, it just looses zero. for no reason. so i rezero, next day its out of zero again. this is not a quality dot. spend more, your life is worth it.

Mounted it on my Glock 43 and maybe shot less than 200 rounds. The red dot won't stay on bright , every time you shoot it dims down where you can't even see it. Disappointed on the product. Don't trust it.

Would I throw this on a duty weapon? Not personally but this a nice budget red dot and I’ve had no issues so far. Perfect on the TX22 compact.

I can only base this review on my out of the box first impression. With that said, I’m not impressed. I mounted it to my Sig P365xl, turned it on and set it on the table. I came back after 15 minutes and 30 minutes to find that the sleep mode never initiated. According to the instructions if you turn it on and leave it still for 5 minutes it goes into sleep mode and “wakes up” with motion. This was not the case. I’ll write more after shooting it but as of right now the feature that I was most excited about isn’t working. Also, The screws it came with to mount it are very short. I’m not confident that they will hold as they were only able to screw a 1/4 turn before bottoming them out. I’ll need to buy longer screws separately. It turns on and off, and the brightness settings work. At least it wasn’t expensive.
