Athlon Optics 4.5-29x56 Cronus BTR GEN2, APLR5 FFP, 1/4 MOA, 34mm Tube

I recently put together a rifle for long-range shooting and PRS competitions, and I’m pretty excited about how it’s shaping up. The heart of the build is a Defiance Ruckus Tactical (Rem 700 clone) paired with a Proof Research stainless steel barrel. With components like these, I wanted to make sure the rest of the setup complemented the level of precision I’m expecting out of this action and barrel. When it came to optics, I found myself debating between the usual suspects – Vortex Razor and Leupold Mark 5. Both are proven performers and have a solid following in the long-range/PRS community. But as I started digging, I kept hearing whispers about the Athlon Cronus. At first, I wasn’t sure – Athlon isn’t usually the first name to come to mind in this category. But after doing some research and seeing reviews, I decided to take the plunge. I’ll admit, I went into this with tempered expectations, but this scope has really surprised me. The glass clarity, tracking performance, and overall value have all been impressive, especially at its price point compared to the bigger names. I’ve put a few rounds through it now, and I’ve got to say – Athlon might be onto something here. For those on the fence about optics, this might just be the sleeper option you’re looking for.

Excellent scope. Low CA and clarity is great. Tracks very well. Turrets have good tactile feel without being too difficult to turn or mushy. It likely won't measure up to a ZCO or G3 Razor in all aspects, but again, it's very good for what it is. This scope is good for a beginner who's willing to spend a little more money for quality, or someone looking to upgrade from a budget scope.

i switched to athlon scopes about 6 years ago and i love them. the retail prices i think are a tad high but they re a top scope based on the scopes i have used

This is my 3rd Athlon scope. They are worth every penny. Solid, nice tactile controls, usable reticles with everything you’d need, and nothing you wouldn’t… I’m really a fan. Good stuff.

I’ve been using this scope for about 6 months now. It tracks perfectly, very tactile turrets, and great glass. I really like how it isn’t too long of a scope and not bulky/heavy. I’ve used other brands in the past and this by far is my new favorite for the price point. One of the main reasons why I purchased the Cronus is the mrad reticle. It’s not too busy and has the right amount of subtensions. Highly recommended!

First one I’ve had but right up there with higher end glass of Leupold and Vortex. Some of Athlon’s reticles are too busy for my liking this one is not.

Exceptional Quality and Durability with this optic. Glass is perfect, turrets are high quality with accurate and precise adjustments. This optic is comparable to the Vortex Razor line.

This thing has been so nice. I know folks can be particular about their glass but my friends who are diehards of other brands are giving athlon a look after seeing my setup. You won’t regret it. Athlon continues to impress.
