Wonderful replica of the M1, correct action and even sling points as the real rifle. Bayonet lug looks correct, design /placement etc. although have not tried it with a real bayonet yet.

    Things I would have changed:

    Pellet version with rifled barrel

    Things I liked:

Looks and feels like the one that was used in the Navy. If my memory of sixty years ago is accurate the real M1 locked open after the last shot. This one does not lock open. The accuracy is good but any deficiency is likely due to my age of eighty four.

    Things I liked:

This airgun is a wonderful addition to anyone interested in historical WWII replicas, or someone interested in an accurate CO2 plinker. I am impressed on both counts. Even with some production shortcomings, I heartily recommend it. Shooting accuracy is especially good. It easily outshoots my 3 CO2 pistols. The gun shoulders well, has a nice feel/heft, and gets on target easily. The magazine is heavy but I think it's a plus and adds to the realism. Recoil is crisp and part of what makes this a great replica. I gladly sacrifice a few shot count from a CO2 cylinder, to get that blowback. I'm glad to see the manufacturer incorporate this feature. Great choice, and well-executed. If I had one wish, it would be for the bolt to lock open after the last round. As it is, I often empty a mag and take a few shots of "air" before I realize I need to add BBs. For display purposes, I purchased a reproduction sling/oiler and bayonet. Both mounted just fine to the cutouts and bayonet lug.

    Things I would have changed:

This gun has the feel of a first production run, with kinks to be worked out: 1. I experienced the same problems with the magazine noted by other reviewers. The spring popped out, and the follower broke the first time I used it. PA was excellent about sending a replacement mag. No problems since. 2. Also, the finish on the wood stock wasn't applied to all areas. It was missing from the sling cutout, the rear of the top handguard, and the oiler cutout. Those areas seemed to have a bit of overspray, but were otherwise just the raw, cut wood. 3. The metal butt plate was loose. There is one screw holding it in place. After some tinkering, I realized the hole it was set in was too shallow to allow the screw to seat tight against the butt plate. I removed the plate and drilled the hole a bit deeper. That fixed it. (As a side note, I noted the screw has an EXTREMELY fine thread, much too fine to set in wood. I worry it may strip out in time. Needs a wood screw).

    What others should know:

I purchased the wood stock version. I was surprised at how homogeneous it was. There was virtually no figuring in the wood, and the grain is extremely regular and fine. I would still favor it over the plastic stock however, if your budget allows. Your hands tell you it is wood. But I'd still like to see a little more figuring. As others have noted, the rear sight only adjusts for windage. This was not a problem for me, as accuracy was spot-on out of the box. Also as others have noted, the top handguard was a little loose. It seems like it should be tight, right? But it doesn't detract from the experience. Wishlist aside, this is a fine addition to any airgun collection. Get it! It's a faithful replica of a storied military firearm, complete with blowback. It's a joy to handle, shoot, and looks great too. Single stage trigger was very heavy, but no problem for my 9 year old. He loved it too!

    Things I liked:

Accuracy is very good. Quality seems to be excellent and realistic with the Woodstock version that I purchased. As a gunsmith I have shot several M1 carbines and this one feels very similar when shouldered.

    Things I would have changed:

I can only think of two things that I would change first one being the rear peep sight needs an elevation adjustment and the second thing I would change would be to add an extra 12 gram CO2 cartridge for a higher shot count.

    What others should know:

This is a very fun indoor or short range outdoor plinker. I on several FX air guns including a crown in 30 caliber and fx400 in .22 caliber and an fx streamline in .25 caliber along with several other PCP and break barrel under lever air rifles . This one is just as fun of a gun.

    Things I liked:

I purchased the non-wood stock model. This is a beautiful rifle but I wish I would've purchased the wood stock but the $100 extra was too much.

    What others should know:

The first one I purchased would not chamber or shoot. The bolt spring seemed weak. They sent me a replacement and it shoots great.

    Things I would have changed:

More attention to detail. The upper handguard is loose and rattles.

    What others should know:

The wood version provides a more realistic, satisfying shooting experience.

Fantastic replica of original carbine! Fun to shoot.

    Things I would have changed:

Shoots 3 inches high at 30 feet. Groups well though.

    What others should know:

If you have stiff arthritic fingers like I do, you need to keep a pan handy to catch all the BBs you drop while filling the magazine. I get 30 to 40 shots from a CO2 cartridge.

This Carbine is the one I fired many rounds with while in the service, looks and feels like the real thing. I got the wood stock and very glad I did. Ive been target shooting at 50 to 60 feet after 30 shoots the bulls eye is gone and a nice pattern around the bulls eye.

    Things I would have changed:

blow back is cool but you will use a lot of co2

    Things I liked:

I purchased with the real wood stock and it gives the rifle the same feel as my real carbine. Blow back feature is cool. I put about 50 shots through it with one CO2 cylinder.

    Things I would have changed:

Only thing i would have liked would be if the rear sight was adjustable for elevation.

    What others should know:

Very cool rifle. Would love one of these in .177 Pellet ammo. BBs ricochet too much. After market slings fit perfect on rifle. Very fun to shoot!

    Things I liked:

I have made many purchases both rifle and pistol. Most are good a very few are amazing and are what they say they are. This is a very amazing rifle from right out of the box. The weight and feel are one of the best replica's I've seen. Right from the box yoy are ready to go to shoot. Hands down with just iron sites this gun is amazingly accurate. On shot 1 or 90 the rifle is what it claims to be and more. The blowback is crisp and is because of it's such well made balance that quick repeated shots stay on target. Th action of the recoil sends the rifle straight back as opposed to lifti g the barrel some on say a full auto rifle. The price is a steal for such a great firing rifle replica from the end of WWll. You'll fall in love with shooting this. My advice buy a few mags for really amazing practice sessions at the range or out doors.

    Things I would have changed:

Not much I would change except offer it in full auto just as the actual rifle came during the start of the Vietnam War. Also a sling that was issued with the real steel. Other than that this rifle is a really rare find at such a low price.

    Things I liked:

Please read my previous post. I am posting this to correct an error on my part in the original post. I mistakenly stated that I fired 100 shots from 1 CO2 cartridge. It was actually 50-55 shots. Which is actually still quite impressive compared to the states that Pyramyd video explained 40-45. I apologize for any misguidance that I may have presented in my original post.

    Things I would have changed:

    My proofreading!

    Things I liked:

Right out the box, this masterpiece looked, and performed as I expected without any major issues. And the accuracy was dead on. 2 clicks to the left and I was punching dime sized holes in paper at 20 feet. I'm not downing the muzzle velocity (as advertised @ 430fps), but I averaged 368fps after approximately 100 rounds fired. Highest recorded was 402fps. I do take into consideration that I was using Umarex 5.1g steel BB's, and my chrono was 14 ft from the muzzle. I'm sure that the advertised velocity could be more closely reached if I experiment with different weight BB's and move my chrono the muzzle. And I am impressed that not only did the rifle maintain that average MV for 100 shots, but 1 CO2 cylinder actually shot all 100 BB's. No mis-fires, jams, or overfeeds encountered at all. Who could find flaw in performance like that right out of the box! NOT ME!

    Things I would have changed:

As so many others mentioned, I too had the factory mag fail as explained in other reviews. But Pyramyd is right on top of replacing it as they always do. It would also be nice if elevation could be adjusted through either sight. I am lucky that mine is ok out of the box. But what if it wasn't?? A smaller aperture on the rear sight would be a plus also.

    What others should know:

Being that this a new release rifle, there are going to bee small glitches involved in the first users that discover them. No need to condemn the gun for that. It happens. And as always, Pyramyd has, and will diligently stand behind you and support you to correct these glitches. They have never let me down, and they have not put me in a situation enough times to question or challenge or dislike their products, service, and support.

Its very accurate and has a surprisingly simple takedown.

    Things I would have changed:

The top handguard was very loose and wobbly and also I heard the same from another review but I am not sure if the wood version has the same problem

    What others should know:

Can fit a real wood stock you may have to shave some wood off and it is not a easy task but it is possible.

    Things I liked:

I was actually floored at how accurate this rifle is. I was shooting at my paper targets from a range of about 30-35 feet, and my groupings were no more than 1/4 of an inch. A large percentage of my shots were stacked!!!!! Yeah....really..no joke. Clearly, this is just plinker to have some fun with messing around in the yard or basement. But the groupings you will achieve with this rifle are going to have your jaw-dropping considering the price. I like the blow-back and the slide action to chamber your first round. Very cool.

    Things I would have changed:

I purchased the imitation wood. Unfortunately, this makes the rifle so ridiculously light and cheap feeling I just had to return it for the real wood version which I'm hoping will improve upon overall feel and quality of the rifle. Would you believe the clip is heavier by itself that the weight of the entire rifle? So yes, the imitation wood version is a quite cheap feeling rifle. I haven't seen the real wood version as of yet because it hasn't arrived. But if you're a fan of this particular rifle going back to the 1960's versions as I am, then spend the extra hundred for the real wood. I have a strong feeling it's the right choice.

    What others should know:

The BB follower inside the clip inexplicably broke after only a few uses. Now that black piece of plastic just slides up and down loosely. That really needs to be addressed. The top part of the rifle stock is loose for some reason. No screws to tighten or anything to stop it from jiggling. This also needs addressing. So, in a nutshell, an unbelievably accurate rifle given its price range. But has some quality control issues on the imitation version which I'm hoping aren't an issue on the real wood version.

    Things I liked:

I have to begin by saying that this review is heavily influenced by perhaps an individuals failure to do his or her job more than the product itself. Nonetheless, I have to review the facts of what I found and not speculate on what contributed to the problems. The gun being reviewed is a refurbished wood stocked example.

    Things I would have changed:

The quality and finish of the wood. I had already purchased the faux wood rifle and when I saw the discounted wood version I bought that too. I am somewhat regretful in the second purchase. The wood stock is bland and has very little grain that lends any attraction to the stock and the faux wood stock is by far the more attractive of the two except for the weight it lends making the feel more authentic. Besides this the sling recess in the wood stock resembles being chiseled out by a novice with very rough tool marks and an uneven surface across the cut. The $100.00 difference in price is not merited by this sorry piece of wood. The so called "Refurbished" category of this gun is a farce: The BB follower of the magazine was broken into two pieces. The face seal of the magazine was very deformed. The slot of the screw at the tang was butchered by someone who tampered with it. It was evident the handguard band had been removed and the barrel shroud was scratched. The forend pin removed.

    What others should know:

Refurbished should be a product previously owned and returned and the faults corrected to meet factory standards. This gun was not refurbished, it was recycled in "as is" condition and had lots of faults and damage. The person who returned it should certainly have been penalised the 20% restocking fee. I acknowledge there should be some minor expected wear on a refurbished gun but not broken parts, marred screws and overall finish damage from some nitwit who obviously disassembled it. No doubt Pyramyd Air would have made good had I returned it with no cost to me had the previous damage been documented, but I could not know that it would not be attributed to me. Therefore I have chosen to repair the rifle and remedy the cosmetic damage myself as I have the professional skills to do so. Whomever was in charge of inspecting this product before it was put up for resale however, failed to do their job and sadly that reflects badly on Pyramyd which has provided excellent service in the past.

    Things I liked:

Considering that the US M-1 carbine is the most produced firearm of all military firearms ever. The Springfield M-1 carbine is keeping the traditions true, red, white and blue. Yes it is my prize piece in my air gun collection. I'm so glad that the exacting specifications of the M-1 carbine were not adjusted in any way. The M-7 bayonet fits nicely on the Springfield M-1 carbine. It is also fabulous that Springfield Armory, Americas oldest firearms manufacturer is producing this masterpiece. Shooting the M-1 carbine is a wonderful step back into history. When this firearm was produced in 1940 without the use of a computer and it still is #1. The grandeur of having a wood stock firearm is just superb. Bravo to all that made the Springfield M-1 carbine a reality. Carbine Williams would be PROUD of his design continuing onto the future generations.

    Things I would have changed:

!. The magazine spring needs to be modified, as mine kinked up, stretched out and popped out. I needed a new magazine. 2. Create a canvas stock two magazine pouch holder. The real M-1 carbine canvas magazine pouch is too small. I converted a 1950's M-2 30 round canvas magazine to fit my M-1 to hold two Springfield magazines.

    What others should know:

Shooting the Springfield M-1 carbine is so nice to physically shoot. It is a true classic that shows history and provides FUN when shooting. The only thing that is missing is the smell of burnt gunpowder smoke and picking up the brass on the ground.

    Things I liked:

The rifle itself was beautifully made. It looked like real wood. I would buy it again If I knew it would work without problems. The bolt would never close. I replaced the magazine and still had a problem which was probably due to the magazines not operating properly. I complained and was told the rifle was defective and to send it back which I did.

    Things I would have changed:

    Redesign the magazines!

    What others should know:

Basically that's it. I think most of my problems were with the magazines but how are you suppose to judge the rifle if you can't fire it.
