Not very accurate but fun to shoot and field strip

Very Glock firearm like, can not be faulted for its replica qualities but as a shooter it is very poor. The following is what I had to do to make it accurate enough to use as any kind if a training or marksmanship tool. In the end it now shoots ok but it was not really worth the effort, and I should never have had to do all this. Not good UMAREX!

It seems like most of the design focus was aimed at making this air guns controls and handling same as the real thing at the expense of actual shooting performance. I believe the design of this air gun allows barrel instability and depending on how your particular gun comes out of the factory this can either be a minor problem or a huge one. My gun shot 12 to 14 inches low at 20 feet. I tried shooting from a table rest with Umarex pellets and Co2 on a mild day temperature wise and same thing. I own and have been shooting handguns for years, the problem is the gun not me. At first I was going to send it in for a refund, however I decided to try and fix it.

1. Ordered the highest standard Glock OEM rear sight offered from a Glock gun and parts web site I found. They offered a plastic site for only $6 plus shipping so I took a chance I could mount it. Turns out the Umarex gun has a firearm like dovetail cut in the slide for the rear site!!! The Umarex site is held firm by a screw that threads into a hole in the site, On firearms, the site is a close tolerance press fit with no treaded hole however the OEM site fit in the dovetail. I was able to snug up the screw thus pushing the OEM site up against the dovetail bottom securing it pretty well. (kinda cool that worked!). Now my gun was only shooting 5 inched low, still a bummer! Fix number 2. There is a plastic bushing on the end of the barrel probably to help position it and make it more stable. I put a two narrow strips of duct tape under this bushing hooping to raise it up a bit. This worked, the gun now shoots about as accurately as what you can expect from a blowback bb gun.

Visually, the gun looks and functions like a real G17. I couldn't be happier with the craftsmanship. However, it hits the target about 5 inches low from 10 feet away on a full co2 cartridge. I watch several reviews and the guns where a lot more accurate than that. I purchased this to be able to practice at a little lower cost. But, if it isn't no more accurate than this, it's not much good. I contacted Umarex twice with no response. I guess it will make a great paperweight.

Needs to be more accurate. Better customer service.

The Umarex G17.4 as a trainer for my striker-fire unit. Showed it to my firearms instructor friend and he liked it for that reason.

The loading malfunctions and low-shooting without adjustments. I've had Three already, and they ALL shoot about 2-3" low at 7 yards.

Yes. PyramydAir is very difficult to work with. Office personnel will say one thing and do another. Shipping is a hassle. Current order was to have arrived and I cannot find my orders to determine status. Used the link to my orders form email and it does not recognize my order number. Why does this not simply link to my orders???!!! When I called to leave a message, the phone just hangs up on you without allowing you to leave a message. I try to forgive, but every time I try again with Pyramyd, I'm reminded just how difficult it is/they are.

I had my guns for 4 months before it broke and by that time it was out of warranty and when I sent them the gun they wouldnt do anything about it.

UMAREX .... they did nothing to help with my broken gun and now it just sits in a box.

If you gun breaks after the warranty is up they do absolutely nothing.

Most realistic BB gun I have ever held, identical replica to the Glock 17, minus the 9x19 etched in on the barrel. Great weight and feel.

The CO2 does not last long at all and its very complicated to install without spilling a little out.

If your someone who enjoys racking the slide back and forth a lot be careful because the top of the barrel does wear rather quickly. The paint comes off rather easily, leaving the metal to be exposed.

This pistol looks and feels like a real Glock in your hand. It is lighter and the materials seem slightly different, but it is an extremely faithful replica. The trigger feels lighter than those in my centerfire Glocks. I am using it as an alternative for dry firing, so I would prefer the trigger to be the same weight, but lighter is OK. Reliability is flawless. Accuracy is good, with the caveat noted below. It fits well in my Aker pancake holster.

As noted in other reviews, the pistol shoots low. Mine is 2" low at 5 yards. I don't mind very much as I practice at close distances. I ordered an adjustable OEM rear sight but have yet to install it. The process of changing CO2 cartridge involves a number of steps, including using a tool to remove the magazine floor plate and the provided wrench to remove the nut that secures the cartridge. Rethreading the nut into the magazine is a challenge as there is not much to hold onto with your fingers and misaligning the threads appears easy to do. That said, one gets the hang of it quickly. Seating the magazine into the pistol requires a positive insertion. If the magazine catch does not engage, the heavy magazine will drop out and hit your garage floor bottom first before you can react, usually dinging a corner of the magazine. This has happened to me several times.

It has a nice pop when you shoot it. My wife says it sounds like a I am hammering a nail. It is not as loud as my Diana 27 break barrel. The blow back action is nice, but it does not have the recoil of a real Glock. I get 3 to 3.5 mags of BBs on one CO2 cartridge, which is perfect for my practice sessions. I am considering purchasing two more for practicing in battery and out-of-battery speed reloads. Given the weight of the magazines, I will definitely do that over a table with something on it to protect the dropped magazine.

Fine attention to detail. Functional blowback that is consistent to the last shot, unlike my experience with other blowback replicas.

Sights need some adjustment at manufacturing. Gun shoot consistently high from aim point. Fair at ten yards but anything further is just impossible. For now, it is a fine display piece.

The look and quality of the Umarex Glock 17 Gen 4 is very realistic and seems to weigh about the same as a real Glock 17 without ammo.

I have problems with the magazine function due to the small spring catch on the magazine. It is very hard to pull back the spring in order to put the BB's in the magazine. The CO2 cap on the magazine must align with the vertical part of the magazine, not the horizontal part of the magazine base, or it will not screw into the threads. It took me a while to figure this out. I am disappointed with the accuracy of the gun. It is hard to hit a paper plate at 25ft. The BB's just don't fly out of the barrel very consistently for some reason.

Buy a few extra mags because you will wish you had more shots without reloading.

The feel, the look, the lack of obvious safety warnings, snappy blow back, and overall fit and finish.

Get rid of the writing under the trigger guard and "officially licensed" script on the side. Yeah, it really does come in a blister pack. These are minor complaints though.

I purchased this and the Springfield XDM 4.5 at the same time. I feel the Glock Gen4 is the better of the two by far. The Springfield has a pretty box,And has less intrusive safety warnings, but the copy I got has too many functional issues, poor accuracy, and doesn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling like the Glock does. The Gen4 shoots better, has nicer fit and finish, and has a better trigger and smoother overall operation. Everything works just like it's supposed to. Excellent replica to practice with at home.

The way it looks and the way it feels in my hands I love the athehetity of it over all i am very happy with my purchase

Solid construction. Realistic weight and feel. Loads easily. Just be careful of the follower spring as it has a plastic tab that could break off if it snaps back.

Gun must be cocked for the safety to engage. Clamshell packaging? I purchased a real Glock 17 case online for $11 which adds to its fun.

You tuber channel true Canadian airguns has a great accuracy mod where you put a piece of electrical tape along the bottom of the inner barrel which then stabilizes it within the outer barrel increasing accuracy.

Overall this is an excellent pistol. Great features like solid drop out mag with clip-in cover for bottom of mag to hide co2 screw. This feels and acts like the real deal. It racks very satisfyingly.

I would like to see a Glock 19 model. Comes in blister pack which is a shame. Quality like this should warrant a nice box.

It looks and feels extremely real, and it's exquisitely made. The weight is balanced well, which makes it enjoyable to hold in hands. The blowback motion feels real as well. Actually I do carry a real Glock 22, and using this 17 replica for practicing is fantastic. The accuracy of this model is just fine. Regarding its price, it's perfect.

This gun is almost as real as it gets. I was never a fan of glock but now I see why so many police cary a glock.This gun feels very good in your hand and operates like the real think. This gun would be a great adition to your collection!

Well hear we go again with the blister pack that no body likes. Let me make a sugestion. Take the gun out of the blister pack as fast as you safely can and through the blister pack away. The blister pack takes away from the quality of this gun. Now get a case, zipper pouch or holster that will show off the quality of this gun. Now you have a gun you will be proud to show to your frinds.

This is not a plastic gun. It has the same solid feel, look and weight as the Real thing.

Very accurate copy of original gun. Feels great in hand. Gun has great grouping at 20 feet considering it shoots BBs and the lower power level.

It would be nice if the sights were somewhat accurate. It would not be difficult to add a slightly taller rear sight or adjustable sight.

The pistol shoots low. Good news is the rear sight can be changed. Glock rear sights are identified by markings on the right side consisting of one or more horizontal bars. A single bar indicates the most common rear sight height: 6.5mm (.256 in), which is what is on this pistol. A long bar with a short bar beneath it indicates a 6.1mm (.240 in) height and a long bar with a short bar above will measure 6.9mm (.271 in) high. The tallest of the factory Glock rear sights is the 7.3mm (.287 in) with markings consisting of a long bar with two shorter bars above the long bar. Any of these can be found for about $20. I found an adjustable one called Glock perfection sight.

Nothing except the accuracy.

This is my 4th air pistol, my second with blowback. I am not impressed so far with the accuracy. It shoots consistently low and to the left. I will have to compensate a lot to get it to where I need to be. I just ordered a laser for this and hopefully this can dial in the accuracy without looking through the non-adjustable sights.

Received 29 Nov. WOW! This is as close to the powder burner it represents as one can get. In the hand is feels exactly the same. The trigger is as good as the actual firearm. The magazine loads easy. The slide locks back on the last BB. The ammo used was Hornady black diamond BB's and Daisy Avanti precision ground BB's. Found no difference in performance. Five shot group at 15 feet was 2 inches or less and shoots a little left, acceptable in my opinion. If I had to keep only one of the MANY replica handguns I have and I like several of them, this would be the one. I'm at 1400+ rounds and zero problems.

Boost the FPS to around 450.

I purchased two extra mags (a bit more expensive than they should be) to extend practice time. I loaded the mag 3 times before the power falls a bit. You can get around 60 - 65 good shots from a CO2 cartridge. Experimented with the magazines and all of them held air for 5 days and still functioned properly. No leaks. Very happy about that as this doesn't happen all the time.
