Things I would have changed:The stock and Quality control
What others should know:My original 932 with a wooden stock was a dream to shoot after adding a Williams peep sight, not so much the new model. The stock is way too high for a decent and comfortable sight picture with a peep sight and I do not plan on spending the money for a scope mount and scope. Also the bolt came maladjusted without any tension when closed and just flops around. I had heard that the stock was not open sight friendly but if I new it was this bad I would have not got it.

I've owned two of these over the years. The first one was a .22 caliber and it was plenty accurate. I took doves easily at 50 yards. The stock was walnut and beautiful. I regretted selling it when I moved into a small travel trailer and hit the road. I missed this gun so much that I finally bought another 392 again in the .22 caliber. The second gun shot so far to the left that I could not zero it with the iron sights. I eventually scoped it and had to shim the scope to get this rifle to shoot to point of aim. Well it is now a tack driver and I like it much, although am not happy with the white wooden stock which is stained to appear as walnut. Every little scratch shows up white against the dark walnut stain. The shape of the stock is better and nicer on the second gun, but that white wood beneath the stain is terrible. I've killed many skunks with clean head shots with this second rifle, but now am looking forward to getting the synthetic stock version also. A very fine rifle!
Things I would have changed:On the wood stock I would go back to real walnut. That white wood looks terrible when the dark stain is scratched. I hope you keep making the wood one as an alternative option to the synthetic, but I am also looking forward to getting the synthetic. I wouldn't change anything else as this is a great rifle at a great price. I remember these rifles from my early childhood. Someone always had one and would take rabbits as well as squirrels easily. One of the best rifles out there at a great price.
What others should know:Every family should have at least one of these. I prefer the 22 caliber. Pump it up full for hunting, but back off for fun plinking.

Everything, I like the synthetic stock it is lighter than my 392. It seems to be easier to pump than my 392. As for the trigger, I really didn't know what to expect because of some of the reviews I've seen, but I'm satisfied with it. It's got a pretty long pull but the pull is light. I was worried about that because my 25 year old 392 has a terrible trigger pull. I also favor the cross bolt safety over the range safety and the thicker cast trigger over the heavy gauge stamped metal trigger on my 392. This really seems to be a great rifle.
Things I would have changed:Nothing.
What others should know:The Benjamin is the best pump rifle I've ever owned. I have a 392 that is 25 years old and it still shoots as good today as it did the day I got it. If my new 397s lasts that long, I will have no doubt gotten my moneys worth.

Great rifle. I have the .22 synthetic and the .22 wood stock. Got them about six months apart, i may have gotten one of the last wood ones available. I like them both alot! Very accurate. I put a williams peep sight on both. They both shoot very well. Its been hot all summer and i find myself shooting the synthetic version more due to the durability. Im not worried about sweating all over it, and damaging the wood..To me thats a plus living in the Midwest. Ya never know what the weather will do. I only have about 20yrds in my privacy fence but im hitting 1" spinners all day. I also like the added pumps/power of the new synthetic. Other than that both awesome guns and i hope to be shooting them for many years.
Things I would have changed:Not much to change. Great rifle for small game, plinking, or survival. Self contained and accurate. Maybe make one in a .25 would be cool. Id buy one! Don't stop making the wood stock either! They're beautiful!
What others should know:If you're on the fence, get this gun you won't be disappointed. Be sure to clean the overspray out of the end of the barrel. Much more accurate if you do. Acetone or nail polish remover works well with a qtip.

I like the extra fps 800 from the 392 wood version which is rated 685fps. This rifle pumps nicely as it should. A person could shot all day with it. Accuracy is spot on. See things I would change section.
Things I would have changed:Crosman needs to replace the tapered stock mounting screw to a flat head. The stock wobbled when cocking. I used the advice from other review, suggesting flat head screw to fix wobble, and it worked great. Now the stock is tight as it should be. The fore arm needs to be the same shape as the 392. This one is not as comfortable to pump on the grip.
What others should know:Crosman still over sprays the paint down the brass barrel, you need to take your bore brush and clean the paint out about an inch and a half so accuracy is achieved. Mine was shooting way high, until I cleaned out the over spray. The 392 had the same issue. But easy fix. I now can hit dead center at 50 yards on the icon of a Pepsi plastic bottle. I did mount the UTG 4x32 Hunter Rifle Scope, Mil-Dot Reticle, 1/4 MOA, 1" Tube, 3/8" Rings using the Air Venturi Intermount,.

looks way better than the wood one spot on out of the box not hard to pump up after a few shots trigger pull is not hard to pull feels normal to me you wont need a scope,i dont think it was meant to have a scope on it stock is not flimsy, well made and strong,i like the shape of the stock and have no trouble at all beading down the barrel, just takes a little practice , great gun , you wont go wrong with this one , gives different power levels,a plus if you miss with this gun you know your aim was off, scopes are nice but half the fun is you could miss. well balanced, not to light not to heavy
Things I would have changed:they kept the gun the same i will too.
What others should know:better get one before price goes up and it will

Plastic stock Is great pump handle is also very comfortable overall a blast to shoot accuracy getting better every time i shoot 177 cal
Things I would have changed:Trigger is too stiff but with a little work like i did it is much better. needs dove tail rail and bolt goes up to high with low scope mount. but is fixable also mine the stock screw was a tapered head with no washer so the stock when pumping moved back and forth a lot so i put a flat head bolt problem fixed
What others should know:Baker makes a scope rail for 397 392 works great with high mounts accuracy at first ok about 50 shots groups tightened up. No kidding at 100 yards 10 pumps JSB's 10.34 heavy's 7 shots 6 inch group 5 out of the 7 shots 4 inch group 177cal

An updated version of an old classic. Weatherproof. Compact and powerful. Accurate, no recoil.
Things I would have changed:The comb of the stock is too high for open sights. The trigger could be smoother and lighter. I like the upgrade but wish dovetail slots had been added to facilitate scope mounting, along with a lever cocking mechanism.
What others should know:I have several C9s, 397s and 392s. -- I like multi-pumps. The ability to vary the power as needed and the lack of recoil make these air rifles easier to shoot.

Looks bad ass, Light weight, Powerful, Accurate, Slightly easier to pump than my wooden 397, The fore-arm pump handle is a little longer giving a bit more leverage, Nice rubber butt plate,Crosman Ultra Magnum pellets work great.
Things I would have changed:Put a trigger like the 1322. Put real world lead pellet specs on the box. See what you should know.
What others should know:I put a williams Peep sight on this and would easily take a rabbit at 30yds using Crosman Ultra Magnum pellets (10 Pumps). It pumps slightly easier than my 397 wooden stock and the trigger is ok (2lb pull) but would be perfect if it was like a 1322 trigger. Others talked about changing the screw that holds the stock in place but mine is fine. The synthetic stock feels great (not cheap plastic). It feels just like the synthetic stock on my Ruger 10/22. Can target shoot and plink with 4 or 5 pumps all day. I can see these rifles being passed down to the great, great, grand children of the future.
