I chose this .22 cal. based on the good reviews for accuracy. When I received the rifle it would not shoot. Cocked it, loaded a pellet, and the trigger would not fire as if safety was still on. Double checked everything with same result. Reboxed it to send back for a replacement, along with a note that I would purchase the. 20 for $20 option this time around. Will write another review based on PA's performance and new product
Things I would have changed:Scope

Has good power and FPE
Things I would have changed:The scope is really cheap on it. The stock is very awkward. A solid barrel needs to be mounted instead of a shrouded tube. An auto safety should be added also.
What others should know:Although this gun has great power and FPE I couldn't get it to group after 2.5 hours of shooting and adjusting at 20 yards on a very calm day and various pellets tested (my Beeman Kodiak only took 30 min tops shooting nickle to dime size groups at 25 yards). Also the "barrel" shroud kept coming loose on me. The scope was a very cheap insult to be honest, for the price it should of had a much better scope on it, i couldn't get it to focus and at distance it got worse. All in all I was extremely disappointed in this rifle especially being made and built here in our great country. Maybe i just ended up with a real sour lemon but it left a bad impression on me to tell you the truth. Ultimately i had to return it and got a Ruger Impact instead (much happier). I hope this helps those who want to know what can go wrong with this rifle this was by no means a bash review, just what i experienced from the one i had.

Sweet shooter after trigger was adjusted. I did not mount the included scope but rather opted for a Nikon Monarch 4x12x40mm AO scope I had on an old deer rifle. As of this review I've only put around 300 rounds of Crossman Premiere hollow points and I'm getting really good groups. Have already popped a few squirrels as well. Fairly easy to cock. If it's shooting this good now, I can't wait to see what I can get out of it once it's broke in and I try some other pellets.
Things I would have changed:Trigger. Trigger could be improved. Feels rough. Easy to adjust put first stage is not smooth and getting that perfect break from the wall can be a little tedious. I'm going to look into some aftermarket triggers.
What others should know:It's a bit heavy. If running and gunning in the field, you will definitely want to get a good shoulder strap. Younger shooters would have difficulty holding this gun up.

Very easy and smooth cocking, hard hitting, pretty quiet for anything in this power range. It is light weight with a good balanced feel. Seems to do well when shot from any position, even directly from a shooting bag on a table.
Things I would have changed:the trigger on this thing is it's only real downfall. the pull is very long and very heavy. It is quickly obvious that it cannot be adjusted or fine tuned to work like that of a T06 RWS, air arms, or Weirauch. In fairness, I have become a bit spoiled by the triggers on my HW90,Hw97k, TX200, etc. So going to this isn't really a fair comparison. But, that said, if Crossman/Benjamin could set this up with a really good trigger system, they would have an absolute winner. The packaged scope leaves alot to be desired as well, but that is the norm for any bundled scope I have used. Your best off to fit it with a Leapers 10X50 right off the bat and be done with it.
What others should know:This is a pretty decent rifle for the money. Please take note though that there is NO AUTOMATIC SAFETY, AND NO ANTI-BEARTRAP MECHANISM! So when cocking and loading, ALWAYS keep your off hand holding the barrel while putting a pellet into the rifle. If the catch should fail, even once, you could loose the end of your finger/thumb. the rifle seems to like the JSB 15.89 (.22 pellets) and the RWS 14.5 pointed pellets the best. We have so far seen 1/2"groups at 30yds and 1 - 2 " groups at 50 yds. It's just much harder to achieve and maintain with this trigger as the pull is very heavy a the release is a little inconsistent. This rifle was ordered for a neighbor just getting into the sport. He really likes it but is leaning toward a Diana or a TX200 for his next one.

Easy to cock. Lighter than most comparable rifles. VERY QUIET Only 120 pellets through it so far, but pretty accurate, once I got the shroud and muzzle device tightened so it wouldn't fall off
Things I would have changed:Quit making me buy and eventually store on a shelf your CHEAP scope. It is NOT the scope I want! Crosman and Pyramyd should buy the scope back and pay for shipping. The shroud and muzzle device fell off after about 50 pellets fired through the gun. Not sure how tight that should be when placed back on the gun, does it need a certain pressure, Loctite?? Groups were terrible while it was loose, so will have to start over. Improved greatly when the device was tightened.
What others should know:1 Star off for Crosman's 'attitude' that I need to pay for their cheap scope. Real tired of that attitude.
1 Star off for a POOR manual. The manual I got is mostly a foreign language document (tired of that also) that shows a rifle with iron sights. The sound suppressing devices on the Shockey rifle are not shown, discussed, etc

Silent, good solid feel the grip is awesome , accurate , great gun , worth every penny
Things I would have changed:Just a better scope
What others should know:I have a Benjamin xl .22 , a hatsan 125 .25 cal and this steel eagle .22 , I'm loving the np2 I choose this over my other guns it's quiet and accurate I shoot same hole from a table at 20yards . Overall a well made air gun

Price, accuracy
Things I would have changed:Better scope
What others should know:I've had this rifle for just under a month now and have over 500 various brand pellets through it. The scope is just OK, clarity is not the greatest but certainly acceptable for hunting. The trigger pull off weight is a bit heavier than I would like and is not adjustable, but its crisp and predictable. The only trigger adjustment is where it pulls off, either short first stage or long first stage. Cocking effort is not an issue for a 62 year old man in good physical condition. The barrel absolutely needs to be cleaned when you receive it. The recoil is surprisingly robust so a light hold is important. This is going to make a good hunting rifle due to the synthetic stock along with the incorporated sling swivel and acceptable weight. The best pellet I have found is the H&N Barracuda Match with the 5.53 head diameter. I'm putting these pellets through the same hole at 10 meters and dime size (or less) groups at 25 yards bench rest.

It's a shooter. Powerful and accurate. Trigger is great after adjusting it. Factory had it over tighten and was just 1 long stage. There's a goo video on you tube. Loosened it and now easy 1st stage, wall, then fires. The fit and finish of my rifle was good. Cocking cycle is not too hard and smooth.
Things I would have changed:I upgraded immediately to the centerpoint 4-16x40 AO scope. This rifle should have come with an AO scope.
What others should know:Overall it is a long rifle with the muzzle baffles.

Power; Accuracy; Ergonomic stock; Removeable barrel shroud; Nice trigger; Decent optics (Centerpoint 3-9x32). American made!
Things I would have changed:Make it lighter as it is fairly heavy for field hunting (although it shoots great off a bag). You'll definitely want a sling if in the field. Shorten the barrel shroud (very long overall length with the shroud but it is removeable for maintenance, storage, etc).
What others should know:Great power in a .22 break barrel. Surprising kick at first but got used to it with a light (artillery) hold. Mine came with a Centerpoint 3-9x32 scope with mil dots and is very clear although I swapped it for a 4-16x40 AO Centerpoint I bought with illuminated mildots as this gun definitely has great range (I put the 3-9x on a Ruger Impact and had it zero'd after 10 rounds this weekend). I also took the Benjamin out this weekend, zero'd the new 4-16x40 CP scope and this gun was consistently hitting golf ball size targets past 50 yards, one after the other, with no flyers. Putting hole through hole at 20-30 yards so was super impressed with the accuracy once I learned to lighten the hold. Not quite as quiet as I was hoping but definitely quieter than my springers with way more power. Dropped a rabbit on the spot from a bag in the early morning with an H&N Barracuda Green 12 grain. Can only imagine what a 20-25 grain pellet would do. Can't wait to experiment with differing pellets!

Powerful. Accuracy 1.2 inches @15 yards. only put about 50 pellets through it. I am sure it would have gotten better. Returned gun because of a broken plastic trim piece at end of gun where it meets the stock. This was sent that way from the factory. Trigger was good. Scope that came with it was not bad at all.
Things I would have changed:Quality control. The broken/cracked piece of trim was obvious since it was facing up. The linkage rail, Visible when turning gun upside down, was bone dry. Subsequently the first time I cocked the gun there was lots of screeching and it was difficult to cock. Lubricating this area helped immensely.
What others should know:PA was very good about the return. They are good people to deal with.

I am 68 years old and thought I would give it a try from regular rifles and shotguns. PyramydAir recommended it to me in .22 cal since that is the cal I was look wanted. The rifle is not that hard to cock for me or my friend and I think it is well balanced. I had PyramydAir test the rifle before shipping it to me. I ran a bore snake down the barrel before I started shooting it to make sure I started out with a clean barrel. The first fifty or so shots were not a tight group as I have read it needs to be broke in first. After about 100 shots we could see the groups start to come together to about a quarter size at 20 yards from a bench rest shooting Gamo Materpoint .22 Cal 16.20 Gr pellets. I will try other pellets after it is broke in to find the best for this rifle. I could not really feel any kick from the rifle. My friend is now considering purchasing one after shooting mine. Very nice rifle and satisfied.
Things I would have changed:I think for me I would lessen the pull weight on the trigger as I find it not that smooth at the breaking point but I plan to play with that later.
What others should know:Glad I had PyramydAir test shoot the rifle before shipping it to me as it made me feel more confident in the workings of the rifle. Worth it!
