The cost of the pistil is well worth the money. it feels heavy enough in the hand .has overall good feel and look
Things I would have changed:It would be nice if it was much easier to load
What others should know:Real good pistol (real good price)

The Beeman P17 is an excellent pistol for those wanting to practice their skills anytime of the year. A great single shot pistol. It is the perfect pellet pistol for those just learning gun safety. A good weight and feel to it, it also has an automatic safety which is a plus all the way around. Powerful, easy to load, and fun to shoot Love it!!!!
Things I would have changed:Nothing
What others should know:No CO2 or PCP is needed. Just a little strength to get you on the firing line

100% fine gun. The lack of recoil makes it hole in a hole accurate. I love this gun. I wish they would make it a rifle with the same pneumatics, it's fantastic.
Things I would have changed:Easier safety. Easier to load. But don't get me wrong, I love this gun.
What others should know:It may seem like the cocking is hard, but a matter of applied physics, and it's very simple. I love this gun.

Very strong. I use it for Target shooting, and for varmints and rats (3 to 5 yards) on my father-in-law's in-town ranch in central Mexico and for ground squirrels and rabbits (5 to 20 yards, sometimes in a tent blind) on his out of town big ranch. The safety is definitely manual with an automatic safety function when cocking. So both Pyramid Air and the manual are incomplete in their statements regarding the safety. You must oil the pump plunger shaft slightly, one drop of oil every 100 shots. So far I have about 2,000 trouble free shots, a half dozen rabbits for the dinner table, and dozens of dead rats beside the pig stall and dozens of ground squirrels from a tent blind. I am a two weapon expert marksman decorated in the military, and my wife is (strangely, with no training) just as good a shot as i am. We both love this pistol. Please treat this weapon as a firearm as far as safety practices go. It is very powerful and capable of seriously injuring a human if mishandled.
Things I would have changed:Pump plunger needs redesigned for proper functionality 100% of the time! A self oiling pump plunger would be a technological advancement, but I fear it would not be cost effective.
What others should know:Safety automatically sets to safe when cocked, but otherwise is a manual safety. You will be absolutely amazed at how accurate this pistol is out to 20 or 30 yards without optics! Enjoy this pistol!

Possibly the most accurate air handgun I own. My first shot was dead center on a Marigold (don't tell my wife) at 11 yards. The next shot at 10 yards took out a chipmunk, so the power is sufficient for that though I expect it would only annoy squirrels.
Things I would have changed:As others, loading the pellet is a pain, particularly if trying for pests. My workaround (and I hope it's OK) is to open the pistol, insert the pellet and let it sit until it is needed. Closing the barrel charges it and puts pressure on the mechanism and that can be done quickly.
What others should know:Great piece for the price and well weighted. Easy to hold and to fire accurately.

Shoots well, accurate and powerful for its class. It has a nice, heavy, solid feel, though the grip is somewhat small. I like the fact you can shoot with a single pump at leisure, instead of wasting CO2 cartridges or having to pump multiple times. Good, fair price. Quality gun.
Things I would have changed:It has an awkward, inconvenient pellet loading system; it needs more room or an easier port. It doesn't have a good weight balance, needs a more balanced grip weight. Too many sharp edges and not enough places to comfortable hold with one hand when pumping. Questionable safety lever.
What others should know:It's very tight and frustrating to load. The pumping and cocking action is not as smooth. It is not ergonomically made, and no real solid grip or control for easy pumping. You have to be careful not to pinch yourself as well. It is double-action, so when you cock the hammer, it tends to shift the top assembly. The trigger is extremely sensitive when the hammer is cocked.

I don't know about long term durability... but I'm a longtime shooter and very impressed with the initial quality, accuracy, trigger, sights, even the finish at this price. You shouldn't expect much more.
Things I would have changed:I could always say, easier cocking, quieter... but realistically this gun is as good as one should expect, and for this size pistol and especially this price.
What others should know:Not easy to cock! AND don't sign up for Pyramid Air's emails unless you like being bombarded with email. I've tried to unsubscribe three times and that is turning me into an unhappy customer.

Single stroke piston
Things I would have changed:The access point where you load the pellet is limited, which makes it difficult to load. An assist tweezer would be helpful in speeding up loading. The front site on my P17 arrived broken. The bracket that holds the tube broke. Fortunately, I found the piece of black and was able to glue it back together. Hopefully the repair will not affect its accuracy. I now store the gun in a gun case. It would be beneficial to beef up the front sight housing as the current one is extremely fragile. If the housing breaks and you are unlucky and do not find the broken piece for repair, the accuracy WILL be affected.
What others should know:Store this gun in a gun case so you do not bump the front sight. (My was broken in the package. That is why I was able to recover the piece.)

This gun is fun to shoot it has a great trigger and front site. a great value foe the price
Things I would have changed:Make it a little easer to cock and provide an opening from the front to allow use of a pellet pen
What others should know:This gun is to hard to cock and is not for young kids. When cocking close the slide with your hand open to avoid pinching thumb and finher

The weight is great, and I shoot it everyday. The trigger is also very nice and shoot this every once in a while and you will notice a difference when you shoot a real weapon.
Things I would have changed:The elevation screw for the sight moved around so it would affect my accuracy, I just added teflon tape and it fixed the problem

Surprised by the accuracy. My first shot bullseyed a daisy at 10 yds. (Don't tell my wife.) Next shot took out a chipmunck so it doesn't have to be just for target practice. However, I doubt it would do in a squirrel.
Things I would have changed:It is slow to load and reload. I would like to open it insert a pellet and leave it open for the next chipmunck but I don't know if that would injure the chamber. Anyone have an insight?
What others should know:Well balanced and fun to shoot.

Love this pistol. The best $30 I ever spent. Everything feels of good quality polymer throughout. The trigger is two stage and breaks cleanly. Pellets are easy to load if you are used to the P1 over lever style of pistol. Shoots hard for a one stroke piston. Just a good all around value for target practice indoors or out. Seems not to be pellet picky although a 8 grain pellet will give you the most energy at just about 2.6 ft/lbs. I like using the RWS Super Point Field pellet at just over 8 grains.
Things I would have changed:Rear sight when adjusted all the way up, can cause the retaining nut to fall off if you go to far. This can cause you to loose the tension spring. Get the sight where you want it and add a drop of red loc-tite to the end of the threads. That is my only complaint.
What others should know:Safety is for lefty's. A little awkward if you are right handed. This could create a situation where you turn the pistol to de-activate. Make sure you never turn the muzzle towards you to take off safety. Mainly a concern for a younger individual. Close the cocking lever with an open hand to avoid pinching skin. Common sense stuff really.

For the money, overall a good informal practice pistol or use to teach basic marksmanship to my grandkids. Trigger pull is better than some of my higher priced guns, Accuracy was fair, only about 50 rounds put through it at this reading. Recoil almost nil. As always Pyramyd Air rocks with their orders and shipping staff. That's why they are my go to for anything that shoots a pellet or BB.
Things I would have changed:Cocking could be easier. I used a glove to hold the top while cocking so not to destroy my hand! Not thrilled with day glo sights, would rather prefer black with a white outline (personal preference). Grips are big for kids/grownups with small hands. Wish the back end was open enough to get a loading pen in there. This would help loading dramatically!
What others should know:While testing for the best pellet found some interesting things. It liked the following: Beeman 7.9 gr coated wadcutter, copper coated 10.6 gr domed, crosman premier 7.9 hp. Tried about 10 other pellets but it didn't like them. I had a few Gamo gold raptors. Loaded one in the breech, it would not shoot at all! Tried a couple of times to shoot, but this gun does not like them at all! Took a cleaning rod to get it out. has anyone else noticed a threaded hole at the left rear of the air chamber? Could not see anything in it. Will call Pyramyd in a day or so to see if anything is missing!

Accuracy is perfect out of the box. Pain in the butt to load, and takes some serious cocking effort. Almost zero recoil. I just hope it lasts....
Things I would have changed:Make it easier to load. They couldn't come up with a better way to load this thing? And the cocking effort could have been a little easier.
What others should know:For $30 you can't go wrong. Just don't try using wadcutters - you'll never get them to load!

Price, design and the light weight.
Things I would have changed:Over all, it appears to be an impressive value for the price..
What others should know:As with anything, there can be 'issues'. I purchased two, one generally presents consistent shot patterns, the other is inclined to send the pellet off in random directions and is no fun.
