8 of 8 Hatsan 125 Sniper Air Rifle Combo, Vortex, Camo Reviews
Clean smooth trigger, compared to some others I have shot. Scope mount is solid. Straight shooter once the hold is figured out, not just artillery hold Im talking pressure against shoulder, grip pressure all that.Nice looking gun. Holds well, and is fast shooter.
Things I Would Have ChangedHas a tuning fork ring that is annoying when fired. The cocking arm comes out of the forearm when cocking . Will have to get used to that one.
What Others Should KnowIts loud shooting next to a umarex octane in same caliber. The sniper 125 may be better option for a hunter.
The gun is very well designed and built. The break barrel hinge is very strong as is everything else on the basic gun. The cheek rest is a nice feature. I added lock tight to the two screws which secure the placement of the rest after one fell out while I was shooting. The gun shoots accurately. I have my scope sighted in at 40 yards and am getting 1 inch groupings using a upgraded bipod and gun rest bags. I have to lean the gun against fixed objects while shooting in the standing position or I'm all over the place. Have put about 300 pellets through the gun.
Things I Would Have ChangedNothing
What Others Should KnowI upgraded to a Leapers UTG 3-9x40 AO Rifle Scope and a UTG Low-Profile Dragon Claw Clamp-on Barrel Bipod. Also went with a Bkl 4" scope mount, bubble level and a Hawke Sport Optics Tactical Combo Kit.
I am happy with the upgrades.
Have found the new bipod through the gun's balance off when left on while shooting from the standing position. I use rubber electricians tape to protect the barrel from being scratched at the clamp on point.
Just received my Hatsan NPSS Sniper .22. What do I like? The NPSS action is smoother with less vibration, perhaps partly enhanced by the recoil absorbing system Hatsan employs. I've added one of the spacers to lengthen stock pull, which is nice. Folks, if you wonder, there's a phillips head screw in there. I thought maybe it was a allen wrench. Hard to see. Was accurate out of the box, and the scope when simply bolted on was right close to dead on - it came with rings already mounted to the scope. While the 3-9 scope isn't terrible, an AO is the way to go. Hits pretty hard. I will update this review when I get around to trying out the bipod. Not sure how accuracy is effected if the bipod is clamped to the barrel. Anyone know?
Things I Would Have ChangedI just ordered a Leaper's scope. There is zeo point in having a scope without AObjective. I want to see in focus what I'm shooting at and I want the parallax correction effect. The stock scope is not terrible, but why not make sell the gun cheaper and/or let the buyer select the scope he/she wants.
What Others Should KnowI purchased the pellet pen, which carries about 20 pellets. Let me tell you, this is a nice way of loading a break barrel. I can go shot to shot much quicker than fumbling pellets with my fingers. I love that item and may get a .177 for my other guns.
The other thing people should know is the Camo is very cool, the gun well-built it seems. And PyramidAir staff are so knowledgable and very helpful I also know that if you have a problem they will stand by their word regarding a replacement - no hassle or delays.
Excellent accuracy, automatic safety, a great looking gun.
Things I Would Have ChangedReally needs a good quality scope.
What Others Should KnowUse the tri-pod for display purposes only. The cocking effort and smoothness will drastically improve after a few hundred shots. .40 in. or less at 25 yards with the right pellets.
Very accurate, excellent power and just looks great.
Things I Would Have ChangedPut a decent scope with the gun and forget shooting with the bi-pod. The bi-pod does look great when displaying the gun.
What Others Should KnowThis gun requires quality pellets. I broke my gun in with cheap pellets from another supplier and almost sent it back because the accuracy was so bad. Decided to wait for my order of pellets from Pyramid and I am so glad I did.Polymag 26 gr. and JSB Diabolo exact King 25.4 gr. all shoot about .45 in at 25 yards. The 20 gr. H&N Field Target Trophy will also if the pellet fits snug.
I ordered the Hatsan 125 Sniper Air Rifle Combo NPSS in Camo. I had been trying to find a good quality rifle locally but had no luck. I found a few of the local shops rifles would have been acceptable if they have a better trigger. When I opened the box up from Pyramyd Air. I liked everything about this rifle. I tried it right out and was surprised how quiet it was. Quiet was a major factor of mine. The othe big factor and most important to me was the trigger. I have had the rifle a few days and had a chance to adjust the trigger and now love it. I couldn't be more pleased with the package. Hatsan did a great job overall with this combo. I feel it is far superior than the other recent rifles I checked out. If you need a accurate rifle in a break barrel, you should be happy with this.
Things I Would Have ChangedI would change the instructions on adjusting the trigger. Maybe more detail? I think the only way to make this package better is make it less money even though this is probably priced right for what you get.
What Others Should KnowI had been searching for air rifles for a few weeks locally. It got to the point it was frustrating driving all over looking and trying the different air rifles. None were up to the qulity I was expecting. These are adult rifles and I really didn't want a trigger that I had to get use to, to know when it might fire. I wanted a air rifle that would have the same trigger as a real rifle. I think there is a safty and accuracy factor in knowning where in the trigger, it will fire.
I like the auto safty. Once cocked and loaded. the safty must be taken off to fire. Many air rifles out there don't have this feature.
The scope is just a scope but does its job. If you can, upgrade. I upgraded to the Leapers Inc. 3-12x40 and there is a very noticable difference. I zeroed in at 50 ft in 6 tries to the size of a quarter. Some of the other rifles with their scopes too 30 tries to get to the size shop pattern of a grape fruit.
The cocking is manageable but I'd like to find a way to make it a little easier.
Pyramid Air with their live chat sessions was a great help. I chatted with them a few times and made a desionion I am happy with. I would suggest them highly to everyone.
I like just about everything. This is a big air rifle and feels like a nice rifle. I would rate the sound as slightly lower than medium.
Things I Would Have ChangedI am dissapointed with the trigger. I would rate it as slightly worse than most air gun triggers and I recieved it with it adjusted as easy as the trigger gets. The adjustments manke the trigger harder to pull. I had a difficult time holding target with sqeezing the trigger. The adjustments made me think I might need two fingers to squeeze the trigger. Also, the scope is just a basic cheapo scope. I would rather it have no scope and a cheaper price if they could fix the trigger.
What Others Should KnowI'm returning this rifle. The trigger just doesn't belong on anything.
