POWER,Auto safety,front sight,cocking effort.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe rear sight is cheaply made. You set the windage by loosening 2 hex screws. If you go to far left or right you'll hit the inside of the stock with the sight when you cock it.
What Others Should KnowIf your going to use the open sights buy the Mendoza micrometer ( you wont be sorry ). I put a scope on mine and i get 1/8" groups @ 40 yards with RWS super points.
Mendoza RM-600 .22 cal. Its less louder! compare to other air rifle's. the first stage trigger works great that your able to know when to fire. Wood & metal, stock is very nice. Accurate, powerfull. Its very easy to use. It shoot's good almost desame in all the pellet's i have, thats how nice my Mendoza Rm-600!
Things I Would Have ChangedThey should put a (scope stop) just incase for the recoil. The iron sigth's works good but not great. The plastic part under the safety should be metal for more protection for the rifle, but its not really a big deal just only my own opinion.
What Others Should KnowMendoza RM-600 .22 cal, in this price range its hard to find a quality like this air rifle. Im talking about the wood & metal, its easy to shoot(head shoot). You need to cock it all the way until the safety is on, or else you will pull 10 lbs of trigger and that can affect your accuracy (head shoot). I have Mendoza RM-600 .22 cal & i recently purchased Avenger 1100 .22 cal. and now im comparing the two rifle's, some said there desame but mine there's a diff. between the two air rifles. Im comparing the looks, quality , performance, for now the two rifle's shoot desame five (head shoot) with RWS superpoint .22 cal. i have a couple of pellet's to choose from, i shoot five each, to know what pellet's gives the best grooping, for my Mendoza RM-600 .22 cal, im going to rank it 1 to 9 coz i have total of nine pellets, 1.RWS superpoint extra 2.RWS super-H-point 3. JSB exact 4. Air Arms 5.RWS superdome 6. RWS hobby 7. Gamo match diablo 8. Crossman H-P 9. Benjamin discovery.Thats how my Mendoza Rm-600 perform, maybe your's will perform better than mine, maybe desame, maybe diff. My next review is going to be my Avenger 1100. Hope this review help you in some way. I know every one always mention this, Pyramidair customer service & packaging is amazing thank you very much.
I've had my RM600 since late 2005 so its an 'old' gun. This is the first time I got around to reviewing it but maybe you might like to find out how your RM600 ages. Keep in mind Mendoza is probably updating their newer guns so your experience will be different. I really like the feel of the gun and think it looks good. It seems well balanced and easy to hold. I have put probably 3000 or so shots through it. Its got a load of power and performs really well with heavy pellets. I use Beeman Kodiacs and Crosman Premiers-Heavy. For the price this guns value is right where it should be. Its just the right weight for toting around the woods. Its definately not the nicest or most expensive springer (5) I have but it "just feels good".
Things I Would Have ChangedI have tuned it up twice now... just finished the 2nd time. Even though it looks good, the 'guts' are a bit rough- not well finished but for the price I can overlook that. The guts are not finished like the German guns but they are ceratinly adequate. It definately needs heavier pellets. I found light ones had crazy groupings and fliers. When it was new it didn't group at all but after persistance of finding the right pellet and working my own shooting technique, I get pretty good groups. It also trashes scopes quickly so I finally went to iron sights. I suppose if I invested in a high end scope it might hopefully hold up but instead spent money on a good scope for my Beeman R9. I didn't care much for the trigger pull when it was new but after a thousand or so shots things smoothed out nicely.
What Others Should KnowAs I mentioned earlier its has a lot of spring twang but a tune up will fix that. this is one of those guns that gets notably better with age but you will need to tune it if you want it to last.
Pyramyd Air Tech support rocks. They can get you the stuff you need. Nichole, I think her name was, made me feel like I was the only customer who ever called in that day. An obscure metal piece on the magnum extension lever wore out and broke but she researched the issue/part called me back. She had it in a box before the day was out. Nicole, you set a very high bar for customer service, Thanks!
They also keep schematics for this gun on their web site.
If you are thinking about this gun, for the price you won't be disappinted but like a good bourbon, you have to let it age some. Use as much as you can and it will fit itself to you as much as you adapt to it.
Lastly, build a spring compressor and learn to tune it up.
Fit and finish is very good, very few plastic parts. This gun has a very nice trigger, and I love it. Very solid feeling, very little side to side play. And has a nice set/pull front trigger that eases your trigger finger back to rest on the main trigger. Main trigger pull in very crisp and light from that point. Both front and rear sights are removable.
Things I Would Have ChangedAlthough the fiber optic enhanced sights are good, the rear sight could use a little more functionality. To adjust windage, you have to loosen the two allen screws that hold the sight and push the sight blade with your thumb in the direction required, then retighten the two screws. To adjust the elevation, it has a sliding ramp with notches and uses the spring effect of the main sight to hold the ramp in place. This is kind of crude in my opinion. The gun shoots great and deserves a better rear sight than this. Threaded thumb wheels for windage and elevation would compliment this rifle so much if your into open sights. If you are planning on using a scope only, don’t worry about, both front and rear sights are removable too, which I like. Safety works well, but felt a little awkward at first. I would have liked it being around the trigger area better, but that’s just me, the safety works very good.
What Others Should KnowThe specs claim 37 lbs cocking pressure, believe it. This gun has a lot of power, and the cocking pressure reflects that claim. The first 300 or so rounds, the rifle did diesel, with the first shot sounding very close to a .22 long rifle going off. The break barrel closes fairly hard on the latch, but is very secure when closed. I did put some lube on the strike plate to ease the closing force required. After 400 rounds the barrel is closing nicely now. When fired the first 200 rounds the spring releases quite a buzz but seems to be settling down some now. I’m still shooting open sights with it and after 400 rds. I’m able to hold ¾” groups at 25 yds. using the 14.6 grain Beeman field and target domed pellets. No bagging, just resting on the back of chair. If your wanting a nice springer rifle for under 175 bucks that is powerful and fairly accurate with good quality, then buy this gun, you shouldn’t be disappointed.
lots of wood and metal, light trigger, sights, muzzle brake, metal globe and the finish is not too shiny like other rifles. the power is great it cuts clean though the fence with flat nosed pellets and tears up pest
Things I Would Have Changedadd a ventilated butt pad because it kicks more than my other rifles.
What Others Should Knowclean your rifle before you shoot this baby comes well lubed
this is a very powerful gun for the price, and accurate once it breaks in.
Things I Would Have Changedmore adjustable sights
What Others Should Knowdieseling is an issue the first 3 to 4 hundred shots, and it sounds like a firearm. so don't test it in a suburban backyard unless you want a police visit. bottom line though this is a nice gun, it seems more suited to hunting/pest control than target shooting out of the box. it is a bit barrel heavy in the balance, and the fiber optic sights are better for quick sighting than really fine accuracy, but this is an awesome gun for the price even if you are a target shooter like me. great for long range.
Excellent quality for the price. I bought this rifle for practicing in the yard without having to pack my black powder musket to the range and having to clean it all the time. The weight and feel and open sights make daily practice much more convenient.

What Others Should KnowI recieved my order promptly from Pyramyd Air, but the gun was damaged during shipping. After calling them the day I recieved it (a Tuesday), they immediately arranged for pick-up and the shipping out of another rifle which arrived in perfect condition on Friday. I felt you could not ask for better service. I have ordered serveral air guns from Pyramyd over the years and service has alway been great. Plus, I check thier sight almost everyday to see specials, read the blog, and just browse. I always find something interesting. Thank you Pyramyd.
I have only shot this rifle about 100 times, so the jury is still out as far as durability is concerned. But, I can honestly say that at this point I am very impressed with it. I have no other rifles to compare it to, but It seems to be well made, very powerful and accurate. I am still getting used to shooting it, but standing up with no support and only the iron sights, I put 18 out of 24 14.5 grain RWS Superdomes into a 3" circle at 25 yards. To me that is not bad for a 51 year old with less than perfect eye sight. It also has a very nice trigger pull. It does not seem to be very difficult to cock, or have much recoil. I also like the fact that most everything is made of metal. I am 6' tall with long arms and the stock fits me well. Overall, I would have to say that this is a very good gun for the money.
Things I Would Have ChangedI think the design of the rear sight could be improved. On my rifle the sight sits up too far off of the gun, and does not put enough pressure on the ramp at the lower settings, to hold it in place, and also making it shoot too high at close range, at least for me. When I received my gun, the ramp was loose in the box. I removed the sight and managed to bend it down. Now it works just fine. I'm sure this could be easily corrected at the factory, and other than this, I find nothing that I would change.
Great choice for hunting. I have the .22 cal and it packs a nice punch. Plenty of power and pretty good accuracy. Scoped it with a 4x32 Winchester scope and sighted it at 20 and 37 yards using Kodiak Double Gold pellets. Easy to break without getting too tired after 100 or so rounds.
Things I Would Have ChangedNothing.
What Others Should KnowA darn good value and a nice looking pellet rifle also.

Price, power, and weight. Feels like one of my center fire rifles. The trigger is excellent.
Things I Would Have ChangedI know there is only so much you can do at this price point, but the twanging spring gets on my nerves.
What Others Should KnowThis is only my second air rifle, my first was a Air Venturi Bronco. Based on my experience with the Bronco (made by Mendoza) I decided to up the power level with the RM-600. I had read that the "artillery hold" was mandatory for higher powered springers so this is what I used. Using a variety of weights and shapes of pellets I was getting discouraged. By now my Bronco was doing dime sized groups at 20 yds. The best I could do with the RM-600 was 3" at 20 yds not including at least 1 flier in every 5 shots.. I finally tried some Crossman Prem. Magnum Ultras (10.5 gr) and my group size was cut in half, still with an occasional flier.. I figured that this was as good as it would get. As a last resort I abandoned the artillery hold and just held it like my bolt action .223. Wow, instantly groups dropped to about an inch with very few fliers. I guess the lesson is keep at it and you will find the right combination of hold and pellet. I have about 750 shots through the RM-600 and it keeps getting better and more consistent. Also the Leapers 3-9X32 Golden Image scope is awesome and is holding zero perfectly.
